Ipoh is a rustic old town renown for their Malaysian style Cantonese cuisine. Tourists flock here for Ipoh white coffee, dim sum, hor fun, chee cheong fun, gai si hor fun, chicken rice, roasts, bean curd, etc in quaint old coffee shops. Ipoh also have a hip and modern side hence it is widely appealing to visitors of all ages.
A quick getaway to Ipoh for good food has never been easier. From Singapore, AirAsia and Scoot offer direct flights to Ipoh. We took an AirAsia flight from Singapore to Ipoh. The 1 hour flight took off and arrived on time. Everything went very smoothly 👍
Besides flights, you need to book a place to stay and a driver with car, if you like. During our last Ipoh trip in Aug, we had Gary Chan ☎ +6012 503 1981 and were very pleased with our experience.
Disclaimer: I am just sharing my personal experience with Gary, in case you are looking for a good driver and car in Ipoh. We paid Gary full price plus appreciation tips like any other customer for his good services. He does not know about this blog. This post is done on my own accord without any input from Gary.
Gary's car is clean, very well kept, and does not have any funky smells. There is no tobacco smell as Gary is a non smoker. The car can seat 5 people with luggage comfortably. I am not sure of the car model but it is a Toyota 😬
Gary is born and raised in Ipoh. Before retirement, Gary represented a leading multinational pharmaceutical company in Perak, so he travels around Ipoh and surrounding places like Setiawan, Pangkor, etc regularly.
Gary is punctual, responsible, mild mannered and polite. He always arrives ahead of schedule and waited for us patiently with a smile 👍 Gary is a safety conscious and considerate driver who knows the roads of Ipoh well.
During our trip we spoke English and Cantonese with Gary.
Gary knows every place in Ipoh, not just the tourist traps which I am keen to avoid. Having Gary made our food safari trip very easy, as he knows all the good places to eat which only locals and not many tourists know. Being a foodie himself, Gary knows exactly what we need. Plenty of insider food tips 😄
It was a very relaxing trip for me as I left everything in Gary's good hands. He even helped us plan our itinerary so that we get everything we wanted (shopping, eating, airport transfer) done at a relaxing pace. So, I share this with you in case you also want a quick, stress free foodie escapade to Ipoh.
We came back to Singapore via Scoot. Our flight took off from Ipoh and arrived in Singapore ahead of schedule. Wonderful lah.
Hi Tony, how much does Gary charge? If you tell me he's your older brother I would have believed you LOL
ReplyDeleteHi Hi we are actually the same age and he is in fact a few months younger lol. Actually, I purposely left out the price. Better for you speak with Gary directly. I can say that it was reasonable and Gary isn't calculative. Paiseh
DeleteHi, Can I know how many days is enough to see Ipoh? I would like to visit the attractions. Thanks.
