Edmond Halal Chicken Rice @ Tanglin Halt Food Centre

After our heavy nasi campur brunch, buddy Mark suggested swinging by Tanglin Halt for Edmond Chicken Rice.

Truth be told, we were not jumping at the idea despite Mark's enthusiasm.

Already, we struggled to finish the nasi campur dishes even though everything was so delicious.

Tanglin Halt Market & Food Centre may be small but it is one of my favourite hawker centres in Singapore. It is less than five minutes walk from Commonwealth MRT station, the building has a unique airy eye catching design, the stall mix is mostly heritage type dishes which I like, prices are retiree pocket friendly, and there's a warm kampung spirit here. It is a hyperlocal example of Singapore hawker culture, a UNESCO endorsed heritage of mankind.

Buddy Jem had been telling me about this old school Cantonese porridge at Tanglin Halt. It's not going to be in anyone's Instagram or flex worthy list, but a touchstone of nostalgia for some. It is a very humble dish commonly done in Cantonese families when many Singaporeans still cooked at home.

Tanglin Halt Hakka Thunder Tea Rice now in Margaret Drive • Lei Cha 客家佬擂茶

Tanglin Halt's Hakka Thunder Tea Rice stall has settled nicely at their new location at the second level of Margaret Drive Food Centre. It has re-established itself quickly and is now one of the busiest stalls at the spanking new centre.

KL Pork Noodle by Old Village @ Peking Room Kopitiam in Tanglin Halt 老村庄

Singapore foodie social media was recently abuzz with a new stall named Old Village serving Kuala Lumpur style pork noodle at Peking Room coffee shop in Tanglin Halt. As I love KL pork noodle but had no chance to taste it in Malaysia for the past two years, I was excited to try it as soon as possible.
