Citrus Sukhumvit 11 Nana Bangkok Hotel Review

You know, when I visit Bangkok (or just about anywhere), I hit the streets for food, shopping and the fascinating sights. So, I spend very little time in the hotel except to freshen/ wash up and to sleep.

So, all I need is a good bathroom, air conditioning, a good internet connection, a clean comfortable bed and a safe/ peaceful place at a reasonable price.

No frills.

Well, Citrus Sukhumvit 11 (4-star) exceeded my expectations requirements.

My room was small but all the amenities I need were there - TV, kettle, shower, basic toiletries, wardrobe, and a safe.

There was also a small table, chair and international power sockets (I love those fit-all sockets - no need to bring adaptors).

The room comes with free wifi that works, so I can do my blogging with my lappy here. (Nowadays, bad wifi = bad hotel for me. Strangely, that includes some 5-star hotels that can't deliver a usable connection even with paid wifi ...... )

The bed was thick, firm with a light bounce - very comfortable. The linen was fresh and very clean. I slept very well on it throughout the 2 nights.

I especially like it that Citrus deodorises the room (with an industrial power ioniser) before the next customer checks in, so the room smells clean and fresh. I have come across even quite new, branded 5-star hotels that smell of stale cigarette and body odour (sorry to have to say this).

Access to the rooms was by security key card. Only guests have access to the floors.

The floors along the corridors and in the rooms were carpeted, which helps to dampen any noise from footsteps or rolling luggage.

There is nothing like a rain shower to flush away the day's sweat, road grime and tiredness.

No bath tub in my room, sorry. By the way, no swimming pool also. (Not that I needed them ;-P )

I always travel light and bring absolute minimum valuables with me. Those little that I did bring, I keep them in the hotel safe or on my body.

My room comes with breakfast at the little cafe (known as Munch) at the ground level. Clever design makes the small space feel serene and peaceful like a garden.

The menu was basic - just the generic American or Continental breakfasts in self service buffet style. Which is fine for me, as I normally just catch my coffee, fruit juice, fruits and sometimes a bit of cereal at hotel breakfasts - saving my stomach space for local street and small restaurant food.

Service was excellent as reflected in my live Instagram report :-D  (That's how I saw them used the ioniser to deodorise the room.)

Citrus standbys their own tuk tuk to take passengers between the hotel and Nana BTS station which takes 3 minutes by tuk tuk (or 10 minutes walk along bustling Sukhumvit 11). Just speak with the friendly staff when you need to use the hotel tuk tuk.
