Enjoyed and learned about Spanish wines at the Spanish wines night at CornerStone Wines under the auspices of EatSpainDrinkSpainSG 2024 festivities. Since I first joined the EatSpainDrinkSpainSG activities, I looked forward to them every year.

Enjoy and learn about Spanish food and wine lovingly curated by the Spanish trade and commercial office in Singapore, and at good deal prices too.

Aelina of CornerStone invited Antonio Garcia Rebollar, head of the Spanish trade and commercial office in Singapore who led the team behind ESDS Singapore to start the high spirits flowing with Spanish wine 👏👏👏

Spain is one of the top three wine producers in the world along with Italy and France.

Blind wine tasting competition of three Spanish wines.

There's Bodegas Manzanos 1961, and Bodegas Manzanos 2009.

And, last but not least, Siglo Grand Reserva 2001.

Guests blind tasting the three wines.

22 of the guests got all correct answers (a lot of true connoisseurs here tonight), so they had a lucky draw to determine the winners.

Prize was a Bodegas Manzanos 1961.

I was not one of the winners - I mean I wasn't even among the 22 with all correct answers 🤭 😝

A lot to learn about Spanish wines, starting now!

And, I started at the right place.

Blas Garcia Zornoza, one of the key men and ladies from the Spain trade office and embassy took us on a tour of Spanish wine, focusing on La Rioja province renowned for its fine wines.

I was thirsting for more Spanish wine knowledge after listening to Blas.

We had the previlege of touring CornerStone's 12°C wine cellar (not normally opened to visitors).

Arjen Blom, Senior Key Account Manager at CornerStone led the cellar tour.

CornerStone's 12°C cellar stores many millions of dollars of wines. The philosophy is to purchase carefully selected wines, and store them to be sold by the next generation. Looking, thinking and acting ahead is at the core of CornerStone's business.

CornerStone Wines founded in 1938 is Singapore's oldest wine dealership and is in the third generation now, led by Clinton Ang.

CornerStone Wines has an extensive range of wines from around the world.

Wines from Spain are well represented.

Deliciously lubricated party in full swing.

Any good Spanish party will have the iconic sangria.
