Mr Grumpy by Fiie's Cafe Nasi Ayam Goreng Fried Chicken Rice Marsiling Woodlands Outlet

After running an errand near Marsiling MRT station, I walked around looking for lunch. Spotted this Mr Grumpy by Fiie's Cafe Nasi Ayam Goreng stall.

Fiie's Cafe at Lucky Plaza had extensive viral media coverage a few years ago. I have never had it before and since I am already here 来都来了, I decided to give Fiie's a try.

There was no queue at around 10am though the crew was busy with tabao orders.

I got the basic set for $6.90.

Rice, fried chicken leg, crispy crumbs, sambal, cucumber, and a soup. Simple, no frills.

The meaty chicken leg was cooked through but remained moist tender.

Natural chicken sweetness was very subtle but the lightly spiced skin was nicely crisp.

The crispy crumbs were crunchy, gritty, a bit hard, lightly spiced, nice.

The crispy crumbs added texture and flavour to the soft tender savoury sweet rice. Delicious, the rice and crumbs complemented each other well.

Fried chicken good, flavoured rice good, but the best thing in the plate, in my opinion was the sambal.

Complex savoury spicy, sweet, subtle tannic flavours, grainy creamy texture, I wondered what secret recipe it was made with.

So good with the flavoured rice.

Pro-tip: Ask for more 🫢

The soup was alright, savoury.

Enjoyed everything, didn't finish the rice though I like it - normally, I eat no carbs at all nowadays 🤫

Another customer's more indulgent serving with add-on sides.
