Dropped by Hainanese Village hawker centre in Hougang this morning to try a newly opened fried carrot cake stall. 

The carrot cake is nice 👍

Blue Star Fried Hokkien Mee at Hainanese Village hawker centre is a local favourite among Hougang residents. It is fried Hokkien mee as I remember it from my childhood, okay.... sans the opeh wrap.

Traditional Famous Prawn Mee in Hougang · No Horse Run · No Bull 传统著名虾面

Buddy raved about a traditional prawn mee stall in Ang Mo Kio saying it is "no horse run" 😮 Since he say until liddat (like that), I must really try it soon. 

I am usually skeptical, even cynical about stalls and restaurants that name themselves "famous" and such. But buddy say until "no horse run", I have no choice but to go to the original stall in Hougang (instead of the same name stall at 338 Ang Mo Kio) 🤭

Review of Yummy Palace Hougang Singapore 品珍宫

Justin rounded us up for makan (eating) fest at Yummy Palace @ Defu Lane 10 to celebrate his weekly day off (just any excuse for a feast 🤭😬🤷 ). First time here at Yummy Palace, I enjoyed most of the dishes today and added it to my list of nice restaurants for group makan outings.

Mind Blowing Delicious Singapore Cheese Bee Hoon with Wok Hei by Old World

Truth be told when I first heard about cheese bee hoon, I didn't feel excited enough to dash to try it. The idea sounds gimmicky and I am slightly particular about cheese. Pictures of cheese bee hoon surfacing on social media also didn't look appetising 😬 Today's lunch meet up at Old World's new stall in Blk 246 Hougang changed everything 😄

Goldhill Family Restaurant in Hougang. Top Value Chup Cai Png Economic Rice with Best Chicken Wing for $1 金華美食店

I have eaten Goldhill Family Restaurant's chup chai png or Chinese economic rice a few times. It didn't blow my mind right away but it's an affinity that grew on me slowly - I am sold on its homely flavours, generous portions and affordable pricing. I also enjoyed mingling with Goldhill's friendly staff and easy going customers (mostly busy working people getting their affordable lunch fix).

Ang Mo Kio Nyonya Kueh 💎 Hidden Gem Traditional Chinese & Malay Snack & Biscuit Shop in Hougang 宏茂桥娘惹糕

Of the many Nyonya / Malay kueh, ondeh ondeh is my personal favourite. Many sold are, however, overly sweet and a little flat tasting - 死甜 or literally "dead sweet" in Chinese. I like the ondeh ondeh by Ang Mo Kio Nyonya Kueh as it is not overly sweet and has subtle layers of sweetness and fragrance.
