The Hilton Worldwide Food & Beverage Masters is such a big, brilliant idea.
Every year, all Hilton Worldwide teams vie for the top title in the five challenges - Barista Cup, Bar Cup, Sommelier Cup, Pastry Cup and Culinary Cup.
Anyone in the Hilton Worldwide team can come forward to showcase their passion and talent for food and beverage.
For example, an accountant from the Finance department who is a wizard in mixology after work, can come forward to take part in the Bar Cup challenge.
It's a great idea to tap all the hidden talents in the Hilton family.
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Johor Bahru recently held it's hotel level qualifying round for F & B Masters.
The winner picked from each challenge category will represent DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel JB at the country level round which will be held in Hilton Kuala Lumpur in Nov 2015. The winners at the country level will represent their hotels at the regional level which is the The Final event next year, in conjunction with the annual global Hilton GM Conference.
At the hotel level, judges are chefs and senior management at DoubleTree by Hilton JB as well as well qualified external judges. Chef Aziz Othman, who heads the Western kitchen in Istana Bukit Serene was one of the guest judges.
Baristas Muhammad Salleh, Muhammad Shamin and Hafizzal Jatin vie for the Barista Cup with their interpretations of espresso, cappuccino and a free-style specialty coffee.
Mixologists Sukumaran Marimuthu, Syed Azian and Mohd Feiroz poured their knowledge, skills and wits into a short drink, a long drink and a signature cocktail at the Bar Cup challenge.
Pastry chefs Nur Nadia Mahmud, Yvonne Chia and Fatinaminah Azhar each created one plated baked dessert and one plated frozen dessert in two hours for the Pastry Cup challenge.
