We visited ONE TWO EAT for a light meal. We noticed ONE TWO EAT cafes before as there are 5 outlets of this home grown cafe around Johor Bahru. They serve a wide ranging menu to appeal to every palate from Western style dishes to local favourites - no frills, substantial servings at reasonable prices.
The decor is basic - cement floor, comfortable, functional furnishings.
We started with a garden salad of finely shredded lettuce, cabbage, carrot and onion smothered with a thick blanket of blended mayonnaise with carrot bits (RM6.90+). The well balanced tangy, sour and salty mayo complemented the sweet crunchy vegetables. The mayo looked thick but the taste was not overpowering - in fact, it had just the right intensity for me.
Fried You Tiau (Chinese crullers) stuffed with fish and squid paste served with thick dribbles of sour, sweet and salty Lady's Choice REAL mayo (RM5.50+).
Salad Vegetable You Tiau (RM3.90+). Good nibble with crisp and juicy crunch, and a sweet, sour, salty mayo with bits of carrot inside.
We shared an Ayam Penyet set (RM10.90+).
The fresh chicken leg was fried to a golden brown crisp outside and the slightly dry inside was flat salty. The white rice was good quality, and cooked to tender with a slight soft nutty bite.
We like this house made sambal chili, the key to good ayam penyet. The pulpy sambal chili has a nice hot sting balanced with savouriness. This sambal made the whole dish taste better.
Milo Dinosaur (RM5.50) a local concoction popular especially with children and the youthful crowd. Very sweet and slightly chocolaty.
The service staff were youthful, eager and enthusiastic. We can feel Xin's sincerity in wanting us to enjoy our tea. She patiently explained how to extract the maximum flavour from our aromatic rose tea (RM8.30+ for two pax).
ONE TWO EAT Cafe is a successful family run, homegrown brand. Their popularity is based on a wide ranging menu at reasonable prices. If you are hungry near an ONE TWO EAT outlet, it's a good no frills, comfortable choice for a satisfying meal. It also opens long hours from 8am to 1am, which is very convenient when we are hungry or thirsty at odd hours.

Yes indeed even their staff and food quality at their Permas branch is good. I have always been satisfied with their service. They all deserve a pat on their back
