No Limits Mugen Ramen Osaka • Extreme Rich Beef Soup & Charsiu 無限ラーメン難波中本店 ☎ +81666848605

After visiting Osaka Kizu Wholesale Market 木津卸売市場, our next check point was Namba Yasaka Jinja 難波八阪神社.

Namba Yasaka Shrine in Namba, Osaka, is famous for its giant lion deity which is powerful in warding off evil and bringing blessings to devotees.

Not far from Namba Yasaka Shrine, we stumbled upon this queue waiting in the slight drizzle outside Mugen Ramen 無限ラーメン難波中本店.

Mugen is a typical little ramenya inside. Counter seats and small tables with capacity for about 15 pax.

When you arrive, write your name and number of pax in the register / booklet at the reception. Then, wait outside. When seats are available, the staff will call out your name to go inside.

They have multi-lingual menu which makes ordering easy.

Pro-tip: If you like sides such as gyoza with your ramen, go for the combo sets for better value.

The signature 牛骨白湯ラーメン Beef Bone White Soup Ramen.

We were not asked about preferences.

The default beef bone soup was heavy, rich, creamy and tasted milky sweet savoury, only very subtly beefy.

Stirring in the katsuobushi or bonito flakes added umami savouriness to the creamy soup.

Assuming this was default, we could actually request for an even more extreme, heavier, richer, creamier version of beef bone soup.

The noodle were moderately slender, done a little soft for my liking (not al dente).

Next time, I shall inform the staff that I want my noodles done firm or extra firm.

I like the two pieces of grilled charsiu a lot. About half a centimetre thick, mix of fat and lean layers, grilled till browned with bits of char.

The meat was tender, fat was melt-in-the-mouth, flavour was porcine sweet savoury. So good.

One piece of thin slice charsiu. It was nice too. So soft tender, gently porcine sweet and savoury.

If milky creamy beef bone soup is not your thing, Mugen also has traditional shoyu soup with the same grilled and boiled charsiu.

It's a more classic savoury sweet profile which was no sloth in flavour compared to its more heavily, richly endowed sibling.

We enjoyed the shoyu version a lot too.

Nice gyoza. Well pan seared, tasty ground pork fillings inside the tender chewy wrap.

A different type of ramen - blend of creamy beef soup and grilled pork charsiu - worth a try, if you are in Osaka (I haven't seen this style in Malaysia or Singapore).

It's delicious.

(They also have a spicy hot mala flavoured soup but I won't be hurrying to try it 😬 Please share if you have tried it before 🙏)
