Was supposed to visit Osaka Municipal Central Market but most of the market was closed when we got there 🙄
Endo Sushi has been here at the Osaka Municipal Central Market for nearly 100 years (since 1930).
Endo Sushi is a traditional sushi place and there were instructions about no photography (except photos of own food).
I grabbed these two photos off Google map for your reference. Endo Sushi still looked the same as in these old photos.
The ordering process was literally easy as 1,2,3,4 even for sushi novices like us.
We ordered all four 5-piece sets, and repeated another round after we were done 🫢
Akagai or Ark Shell.
Toro or Fatty Tuna.
Cika or Calamari.
Uni or Sea Urchin.
Kani or Boiled Crab.
Tamago or Omelette.
Ikura or Salmon Roe.
Sake or Salmon.
Ebi or Shrimp.
Tachiuo or Hairtail.
Hotate-Bashira or Scallop.
Tai or Sea Bream.
Hamachi or Yellow Tail.
Anago or Sea Water Eel.
Tako or Octopus.
Tekka or Tuna Roll.
Awabi or Abalone.
We enjoyed everything, raw and cooked toppings. The raw toppings were very fresh, natural textures with clean tasting natural flavours.
Endo Sushi is not one of those "sanitised, ritualised" high end sushiya but I also like such humble, slightly gritty eating places with local atmospherics and vibes. Not much, if any theatrics and ceremony, just straight no frills, no fuss good food.
Endo Sushi is a bit of a tourist attraction now but not 100% tourist clientele like at some top notch, exclusive sushiya.
