We were invited to taste the SGD298++ Mothers' Day Set for 8 people. (There are also sets for 4, 6 and 10 persons.)
First up was the crab meat and fish maw shark fin soup.
Scallops fried with lotus roots and fresh crunchy snow peas.
Rock sugar honey pork.
Golden prawns in creamy salted egg sauce.
Love the juicy fresh prawn wrapped in savoury sweet salted egg sauce.
Longevity noodles with sesame oil chicken.
Spinach with mushroom and sea cucumber.
Deep fried sea bass.
Happy Family Premium Pot.
Sea cucumber and fish maw porridge.
Red dates and longan dessert.
Overall, all the dishes were well executed. The flavours were mild and likeable. The selection consists of familiar Chinese comfort dishes, so grandma and grandpa will feel comfortable too. A-One uses no MSG which makes their food slightly milder in flavour but more healthful. Between MSG and a healthier option, I rather have the more healthful choice as I don't like artificially flavoured food anyway.
For the amount of food and premium ingredients we had, I felt the SGD298++ Mothers' Day Set for 8 people, which works out to SGD43 nett per person, is reasonable value for money by Singapore standards.

Most of the A-One outlets are conveniently located in sub-urban shopping malls around Singapore. The exterior is open and inviting.
Inside A-One restaurants, the decor is simple, contemporary Chinese. It is casual, airy, bright and clean.
