Citrawarna @ Kuala Lumpur 2015

Citrawarna-Kuala-Lumpur-2015

I was in Kuala Lumpur for the ASEAN Media Bloggers Tourism Hunt 2015 and we were treated to an enthralling evening at Citrawarna @ Kuala Lumpur :-D

Citrawarna or "Colours of Malaysia" is organised annually by Tourism Malaysia since 1999 to showcase Malaysia as a world class travel destination.

When we arrived by coach at the historic Dataran Merdeka, the whole area was already filled with a festive air, electrified by anticipation.

The pre-show was already in progress when we arrived.

The pre-show presentation was MUD, the human story of Kuala Lumpur from the discovery of tin deposits in the muddy estuaries to the present metropolis. This was the third time I am watching this show and I never tire of it.

Once the Guest of Honour Tourism Minister Dato' Seri Mohamad Nazri Bin Abdul Aziz took his seat, the show began with a moving rendition of Negaraku, Malaysia's national anthem by 40 youths and children.

The ancient art of wayang kulit (traditional shadow puppets) always fascinated me and I was glad that it was part of the opening of Citrawarna @ Kuala Lumpur.

Fusion of two ancient art forms, silat (martial art) and wayang kulit.

For 16 years since it's launch in 1999, Citrawarna has been a parade. This is the first time that Citrawarna is presented as a stage performance. But, one thing never change - Citrawarna is still a celebration of colours and a most spectacular one.

Citrawana @ Kuala Lumpur is created and directed by Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina who is known for her works such as Puteri Gunung Ledang and P. Ramlee the Musical. “We hope to present something with a wow factor" she said when interviewed before the show.

I found myself muttering the "W" word to myself many times as I took photos of the performance :-D

While glued to our seats and eyes trained on the dancing colours on stage, we were brought on a whirlwind tour of all the colourful states and territories that make up Malaysia. Each have their own unique attractions.

With the stage set, Citrawarna @ Kuala Lumper proper followed - showcasing the Culture, Nature and Future of Malaysia.

Moving house Malaysia kampung (village) style - neighbours simply joined hands, lifted up the house and moved it to the new address :-D Many hands make work light, in true kampung spirit and culture of unity and community.

A tribute of colour, music and song to the marvels and treasures of nature in Malaysia, on land and under the sea.

The evening ended with a big bang!

I enjoyed every moment of it, from the pre-show all the way to the fire works. Colour, movement and music, all together in perfect harmony.

Citrawarna is open to the public - no tickets required - just bring your mat. Next time, I will time a visit to Malaysia with Citrawarna as part of my itinerary :-D

  4. The next time I read a blog, I hope that it won't fail me just as much as this one.
I mean, Yes, it was my choice to read, however I actually thought you would
probably have something helpful to say. All I hear is a bunch of complaining about
something that you could possibly fix if you weren't too busy looking for attention.
