We are still in the annual Singapore / Malaysia haze survival mode, having our meals in shopping malls (hopefully the air is really cleaner inside but at least it is cooler). Buddy Clarence suggested that I could do a series on Korean style fried chicken using 4 Fingers as the benchmark. So, here we are - thanks to Clarence.
4 Fingers is a fast food type of place. Order your food at the counter, pay, take the pager they give you, go to your table, go collect your orders when the pager buzzes. Simple and efficient.
Two of us, we ordered the 12 piece combo set (along with 2 fries and 2 sodas) for RM40.70. For half of the wings, we had "soy garlic" flavour and the rest "hot".
The golden brown batter outside was thin and crisp. It was the "just nice" kind of crisp which I prefer, not the hard and gritty kind or worst, the thick and lumpy kind. The wings were well fried and not greasy.
Bite off that crisp thin shell outside, the meat inside was tender and juicy.
The Soy Garlic flavour wing tasted mildly savoury sweet which was nice.
The "Hot" wings were mildly savoury sweet spicy which was my favourite. I like this flavour because it brought back sweet memories 😄
The savoury sweet spicy taste of 4 Fingers "hot" flavour wings reminded me of the taste of "satay fish" from my childhood, bringing back many fond memories of that old humble snack.
4 Fingers claim to use fresh chicken wings with no MSG and artificial flavours added. I don't know but at 4 Fingers I didn't get that uncomfortable dull tongue numbing or tingling sensation that I got from some other Korean fried chicken joints.
We had kimchi and seaweed flavour shoestring fries. Both were well fried and non greasy. The fries had a nice crisp bite and tasted good too.
I haven't eaten at that many Korean fried chicken wing places, but 4 Fingers is one of the best so far.
What other Korean fried chicken wings places must I try in JB and Singapore?
