Stulang mee rebus has a special place in the hearts of JB folks (the other is Hj Wahid mee rebus). News about Stulang mee rebus set JB social media abuzz as their fans follow them wherever they go. I was alerted to Stulang mee rebus' latest location, thanks to buddy Evonne.

Stulang mee rebus stall is now run by Johnny (left) and Hassan in PJ Kopitiam in Permas Jaya 百萬鎮咖啡室.

Stulang mee rebus started as a mobile street side stall at Stulang beach, hence the name. It then moved into the canteen in Open University at Stulang. I had my first taste of Stulang mee rebus here about 20 years ago. The stall later moved to Cafe Enampuluhan beside New Hong Kong restaurant. I visited them there in 2012. They moved to Taman Molek where I visited them 3 years ago. They just moved to PJ Kopitiam recently and are pulling their fans there like bees to honey.

Mee rebus is a simple dish - it's just boiled yellow noodles and bean sprouts dressed with a starchy sauce and garnished with crisps, parsley and green chili.

Stulang mee rebus' starchy sauce is made with potatoes, chicken stock, and spices such as cumin.

The crisps are made with rice flour and spices. They taste savoury.

When the crisps are folded and mixed into the sauce, it creates a sweet savoury spicy blend and added a bit of crunch to the starchy sauce.

The thick yellow noodles were done to a tender texture. They were wrapped in starchy, gently sweet savoury spicy sauce with a touch of tanginess (from the calamansi). The essential crunchy raw green chili added some zesty heat.
