Came to Restoran Heart Garden kopitiam 心園美食妨 in Desa Jaya Johor Bahru after seeing 吃遍新山的装修佬's (renovation contractor who ate the whole of Johor Bahru) post about the little herbal chicken stall here.
Vivian's little herbal chicken stall is called 恩记 or Grace.
Vivian has been running her little stall for 10 years now and has her loyal following. Chicken thighs with herbs are wrapped in aluminium foil, cooked by baking and kept warm in steaming towers.
Our usual food hunting procedure is to just order one set to try - Vivian serves a set of herbal chicken and rice for RM9.
The brownish sauce was rather robust with savoury herbal sweet tastes, in that order. The sauce felt a bit tacky with nice round body. We like this.
The fresh chicken thigh was fall-off-the-bone tender but flavour was only very slight as most have been surrendered to the sauce during the long hours of steaming.
We like this herbal chicken, so we ordered another one.
