June, the Managing Director of Showhouse Gatsro Bar at Taman Sutera invited me to try out their Valentine Day menu which will be served on 14 Feb 2014.
Showhouse Gastro Bar is a popular place for groups of friends to gather and chill over music and drinks. Showhouse is located at Taman Sutera (near Sutera Mall) where there is a concentration of food and beverage outlets.
Inside, Showhouse Gastro Bar has the set up of typical watering holes, with bar counter, high tables and cushioned stools. Along one wall, there is a row of cosy nooks with comfy, heavy, high backed, leather sofas and chairs - just perfect for couples ;)
June, who has been Showhouse's MD since it opened at Sutera three years' ago, personally designed Showhouse's Valentine Day menu. She also did the cooking for today's tasting :D
As Showhouse is a popular place for chilling out over drinks, June decided to give her Valentine Day menu a twist of liquor. Most of the dishes have a touch of the uplifting spirit :D

The Bruschetta Trio starter with crispy toasted baguette slices topped with egg mayonnaise, vinegared tomatoes and sautéed mushrooms. Everything was house made.
The Bruschetta Trio was a great start to the Valentine dinner.
Next up was the Champagne Infused Chilled Strawberry Soup. June learnt the recipe when she was interning in the US while she was studying.
This dish is made with fresh strawberries, blended with champagne, and then chilled and served. It is served with a small cup of yogurt and the soup is eaten by adding yogurt to taste. The soup was tangy, slightly sweet and watery, reminding me of strawberry puree with a bit of zest from the champagne.
This soup is popular with ladies who appreciate it's unique zesty tanginess a lot :D Chilled soup is something new to me and I am never a big fan of tangy food :P
The first entrée was a hearty chicken chop :D
The well executed golden yellow Grilled Tequila Lime Chicken came with browned fringes. The large piece of chicken was marinated with tequila, lime and spices.
The tequila infused tender meat was juicy and had a subtle pleasant kick from the liquor. The slightly crisp skin added texture to the dish.
I love this sweet and savoury crunchy salad made with crushed Doritos corn chips, corn, and juicy capsicum.
The second entrée, Pasta Alla Vodka which is pasta with mussels and shrimps cooked with creamy tomato sauce and vodka.
I am a mussel man - I like tender, meaty, fat, juicy mussels with some chew :D
Dessert is a sweet and savoury Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake served with a scoop of Vanilla ice cream.
The RM185++ Valentine Day set comes with a bottle of chilled white wine which paired perfectly with the food. The set without drinks costs RM125++.
