Cupcakes at Magnolia Bakery, NYC New York

Magnolia Bakery is credited with starting the global cupcake craze. Magnolia Bakery now has several branches around the world from Tokyo to Moscow but it all started at this humble shop in West Village, New York City in 1996.

The first and original Magnolia Bakery still operates at this corner shop at the quiet junction of West 11 Street and Bleecker Street.

Inside the tiny Magnolia Bakery shop at Bleecker Street, it still looks homely despite the brand's global expansion.

Infamous for it's queues and busloads of tourists, the wait wasn't long this chilly Friday morning - I got my cupcake within 5 minutes.

Magnolia Bakery serves a small range of cakes, cookies and cupcakes.

Everything at Magnolia Bakery is so photogenic.

The humble corner shop is a must visit for cake lovers and tourists visiting NYC.

At Magnolia Bakery, the cupcakes are freshly made right here at the shop.

There are no eat-in facilities here. All of us had to take away our cupcakes in one of Magnolia Bakery's signature boxes.

Magnolia Bakery's best selling Red Velvet Cupcake at USD3.50.

The snowy cheese frosting swirl on top.

The spongy cake was fluffy, soft, slightly moist and not overly sweet. The cheese frosting was sweet and light tasting.

I liked it.

I firmly believe that taste is subjective and so, warmly welcome differing viewpoints as it makes this blog better :-D But, I disapprove negative comments that are anonymous or hide behind fake identities. I feel that that is unethical in the same way as speaking ill of others behind their backs. I look forward to all your comments :-D Thank you. (Date: 18 Dec 2015)
