Whatever one might feel about the Pontian style of wanton mee, no one can deny that it is the best known style of wanton noodles from Johor. Beyond Johor, there are many shops and stalls serving Pontian style wanton mee in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

This is another drive by discovery. We drove slowly along Jalan Parit Mesjid in Pontian, looking for where local folks gather. Then, we stumbled upon this popular Pontian style wanton mee stall which is under the radar to most outsiders.

Bumped into my foodie buddy Ong who is from Pontian town and he reminded me that Sin Kee Pontian wanton mee has moved to it's own shop at Jalan Bakek Jaya Utama. Ong said I should visit Sin Kee again soon if I had not been to their new shop.

Update 25 Dec 2018. After visiting Pontian Fish Market, I decided to drop by Heng Heng Wanton Mee. Truth be told, I don't think Heng Heng serve the best Pontian wanton mee in town - I was here for nostalgia sake and because Heng Heng is the creator of the Pontian style of wanton mee. So, I was delighted that I like it better today than I did before.

I am seriously not a fan of those American fast food chains but I did fall for their colourful and attractive shop fronts. Once in the US, I was so thrilled by the beautiful shop fronts of the different fast food chains that I was led to believe that I was in some sort of foodie's paradise. So I tried out the different fast foods on offer. After just 2 days of fast food for my daily 3 meals, the salt, sugar, trans fat, preservatives and unknown chemicals made me feel that my heart was about to stop at anytime.

Since that time, fast food chains with loud, colourful shop fronts are an automatic turn off for me.
