ORIENT Watch Driveaway 2016 Singapore 🚘 Tangkak 🚘 Seremban

The ORIENT Watch dealers of Singapore went on the annual ORIENT Driveaway 2016 for 2 days and 1 night from 2-3 Sept. The Driveaway took the party of 40 people from Singapore to Seremban (Malaysia), stopping over at Tangkak.

(I joined the Driveaway as a guest of Leslie Chang, Singapore distributor of Orient watches and Giordano Timewear.)

Day 1 - 2nd Sept 2016



After clearing immigration at Gelang Patah, our first stop was a durian plantation in Tangkak. There were 11 cars in our convoy.



There were truck loads of durians waiting for us to eat to our heart's content.



Diving straight into all-you-can-eat durian for brunch.

I was lucky to have a flat tire while pulling into Tangkak. Grateful for the help of buddies who cheerfully got me out of a tight spot - I haven't changed a tire for over 20 years 😂 Thanks Bingo and Columbus!



After durians, the party drove to Malacca for go-karting.

Off we go! 

Go-karts don't run as fast as saloon cars but because our buttocks are practically on the floor and the roaring lawnmower engine is at our elbows, it feels really fast and thrilling.



We have a Champion!



It's none other than Leslie Chang, the only Singaporean to date to have successfully competed in FIA World Rally Championship events.



After go-karting in Malacca, the convoy drove north along the North-South Expressway and pulled into Klana Resort in Seremban.



Klana Resort facilitated team building activities for the group.




We discovered that we have hidden talents in coconut bowling 😄

Everyone had a great time together.



These guys are fast!



The games bonded the Singapore ORIENT Watch dealers through lots of fun and laughter.



Japanese style buffet dinner at Klana Resort waiting for us - all-you-can-eat self service is perfect as we were all hungry after all the team building games 😀



The scrumptious buffet was a special arrangement between Leslie and Klana Resort.



After dinner, it's karaoke time!



We happily found out that there are many singing talents among Singapore Orient Watch dealers 😘



Our karaoke night was wrapped up by a guest appearance by the incredible Stevie Wonder.

Day 2 - 3rd Sept 2016



The next morning after buffet breakfast at Klana Resort, the group gathered for a short presentation on watches by Leslie, followed by a quiz.



I learnt a lot about watches today from Leslie's presentation and the quiz 😃



Our team's prize 😆 Everyone got this nice Orient watch except the winning team which have a different one. I am wearing this watch everyday now hehe 😉

After so much exam stress, we relaxed a bit by taking joy rides in Leslie's car lo.

Leslie gave a gymkhana demonstration - Leslie was at the driver's seat and we took turns as passengers to feel the g-force spin inside the car 😱



It's addictive. Once is not enough woh.....



After the gymkhana demonstration, we proceeded to Restoran Regent in Seremban for lunch.





To earn my lunch, I went from table to table to photograph our group like a wedding photographer 😂

We stopped briefly at the Buddhist temple Wat PiahLang near Tangkak town. (The temple is off Jalan Muar just 1 km behind the Secret Recipe restaurant in Tangkak.)

There are a couple of 羅漢果 lou han guo trees at the temple. Most of us have never seen a lou han guo tree before and were surprised at how big the lou han guo fruit is.



Dinner at 东甲(老大)心之素中西素食馆 Xin Zi Su Western & Asian Vegetarian Cafe.



Xin Zi Su serves innovative, tasty vegetarian dishes and I would come back to Tangkak to try their vegetarian Western dishes.



We went to the Tangkak pasar malam after dinner. This pasar malam has over 100 stalls of all kinds and opens only on Saturday evenings.



After our fill of more eating and shopping at Pasar Malam Tangkak, we continued our journey home to Singapore via Gelang Patah and Tuas.



ORIENT Driveaway 2016 was a just a short 2 days 1 night getaway and it was full of fun and laughter. We are glad to make new friends. Our heartfelt thanks to Leslie and his dedicated team for a memorable weekend with the fun group of Singapore ORIENT watch dealers 😃
