I was invited to a tasting of the Mothers Day menu at Limoncello Pizza & Grill Italian Restaurant at Robertson Quay.
Limoncello has a popular spacious al fresco dining area with a view of the river. It is cool and breezy here at night.
Inside Limoncello, the decor is simple contemporary European chic. A large wall of cascading water is the highlight.
Manager Mohan took care of us for the evening.
Before going into the food, may I commend Mohan for his professionalism. Mohan with his knowledge, attentiveness and resourcefulness, provides a level of service that is uncommon in Singapore.
And now, Limoncello's Mothers Day menu.

As Limoncello serves Southern Italian cuisine, Head Chef Mauro Crescendo who hails from Italy's southern Almalfi coast, recreates for us a taste of his rustic hometown.
Welcome Drink
Limoncello Spritz welcome drink.
Tastes like lime juice spiked with Limoncello liqueur. Refreshing with a zesty kick.
The meal starts with two antipasti (dishes before the main course).
Antipasti
Portobello Al Tartufo.
Large oven baked mushroom topped with sautéed spinach and bathed in creamy truffle sauce.
Eaten with a savoury mozzarella cheese crisp.
I love the spongy texture and subtle earthy flavour of the portobello mushroom. The layers of savouriness from the mushroom, truffle cream sauce and cheese crisp make this a memorable dish.
Saute Vongole.
Fresh meaty clams simply sauteed with butter and white wine. Zested up with a bit of garlic and spicy chili.
Simple and nice.
I like both the antipasti (which in Italian means "before the pasta").
Choice of Main Course
Fettuccine Con Frattaglie di Wagyu.
House made fettuccine cooked al dente bathed in a savoury sweet sauce paired with stir fried chopped porcini mushrooms and slices of tender wagyu beef.
Branzino Al Sale or baked fresh sea bass fish encased in rock salt. Head Chef Mauro Crescendo showing off the Branzino Al Sale before cutting.
The white flesh was tenderly soft, moist and infused with a gentle salty flavour that blends well with the fish's sweetness.
The tiny sampling left me hungry for more ......... ;-p
Choice of Dessert
Limoncello cake.
Spongy, moist, buttery with slight zesty tang from lemon and orange. Spiked with Limoncello liqueur.
Tiramisu.
Lady fingers dipped in espresso and Amaretto liqueur with mascarpone cheese dusted with cocoa powder.
Choice of Wine
The Mothers Day menu comes with a bottle of red or white wine. From Italy, of course.
Tiffany and mum enjoying Limoncello's Mothers Day menu
For the Mothers Day menu, patrons have the choice of Fettuccine Con Frattaglie di Wagyu main course at SGD148++ for two or Branzino Al Sale main course at SGD168++ for two.
Antipasti and dessert are the same for both menus.
After tasting the Mothers Day menu, we were presented a sampling of other Limoncello dishes.
House made, oven baked salty bread stick wrapped with savoury prosciutto (dry cured) ham.
Fritto Di Calamari.
Mohan let us try these fried squid rings made with squids imported from Italy. The Mediterranean squid has a softer texture like marshmallow compared to the local more rubbery variety.
Worth trying when these imported squids are in season.
Linguine Al Nero Di Seppia.
House made squid ink linguine pasta with seafood.
I was delighted by the pizzas at Limoncello. I can't remember seeing such quality pizza in Singapore (mostly because I don't eat much pizza here).
I've not been to Italy but I recognise the "leopard spot" black char that I saw at the famous New York City pizzerias.
Sibilla Pizza.
Mozzarella and mascarpone cheese topped with homemade sausage, mushrooms and truffle cream.
Simple Margherita with fresh tomato, mozzarella cheese and fresh basil.
Chef Alex makes and bakes the pizzas from scratch with Limoncello's own wood fired stone oven.
If I want to eat pizza in Singapore, Limoncello would be one of my top choices.
Please note that this is an invited tasting.
