This dry mee Siam is another of kaki kaki AW's favourites.
Actually, 小王子 Nasi Lemak stall's signature dish is their nasi lemak, that's why they are named that way 😁 And, I always prefer soupy mee Siam over dry mee Siam.
小王子 Nasi Lemak or Little Prince Nasi Lemak is a typical Malaysian coffee shop stall in Taman Daya in Johor Bahru.
New Fook Lim Taman Daya 福林茶室 is a place locals gather for meals and catch up with the neighbourhood news 😀 Nice eating place with vibrant local vibes.
I asked the gentleman running the stall, if he is Little Prince. He replied that that's his name since he was younger 😀
The dry mee Siam set is like the nasi lemak set - comes with fried chicken, fried egg, sambal, cucumber, and fried prawn crackers except that bee hoon replaces coconut milk rice.
Okay.... The egg wasn't the runny type which I prefer.
But, the spiced bee hoon (rice vermicelli) blew my mind.
The bee hoon was soft, light and fluffy. The short strands were infused, loaded with balanced, mild umami savoury sweet and lightly spiced flavours.
Very tasty.
For fried chicken, they only have drumstick and leg, no breast or wings.
The skin and outside were crisp, and well browned with lightly spiced batter.
The inside was tender and moist, and I could taste the natural sweetness of fresh chicken. The lightly spiced skin and outside added flavours and aroma that complemented the sweet chicken meat.
The sambal was the umami sweet not very spicy type which I like for nasi lemak and dry mee Siam.
I want to come back again for 小王子's delicious mee Siam, and their signature nasi lemak.
