Doubletree By Hilton Hotel Johor Bahru Ramadhan Buffet JK1168
Johor Kaki was invited to visit the Ramadhan buffet at Doubletree By Hilton Hotel Johor Bahru. As expected, the buffet spread was extensive with many varieties of traditional and international dishes but I just indulged myself with my usual favourites.

I started with the mandatory roast lamb (before the queue forms up :-D ). I am always fascinated watching the staff carefully carve the roast lamb into juicy slivers of tender meat.
At Doubletree, the lamb was served on a warm bed of colourful aromatic briyani rice and crunchy vegetables.
Pretty golden brown chicken showing off their shimmering tan just after a hot oil bath.
The roti canai man. One day, I too shall learn to flip roti like this myself :-D
Of course, there is freshly grilled satay with ketupat (rice cakes) and spicy sweet peanut sauce.
Freshly grilled naan, meats and vegetables straight from the tandoor.
Juicy meat rolls with crunchy fresh greens wrapped with crepe made on the spot.
Curry beef cooked the way mums do at home.
Fried chicken perfect to go with simple steamed white rice.
As a lover of fish curries, I was glad to see this fiery looking curry with chunks of mackerel or Ikan Tenggeri.
Doubletree even has my favourite type of fish curry - fish head curry. The fish heads were chopped into large nondescript chunks of bone, skin, flesh and gelatin, and I love it ;-D
These were just a small fraction of the food available at Doubletree's Ramadhan buffet. You have to come here and see it for yourself.
After all the heavy eating, we rounded up the feast by relaxing with sweet desserts and fruits.
This durian cake was so pretty, we couldn't bear to eat it at first. But once someone took the first bold stab, we couldn't stop the frenzy.
I found myself attracted to this Turkish style handmade ice cream.
Boys will be boys - having screaming fun with the ice cream man.
Wait. Who's the naughty one?
The ice cream man was playful - making fun of everyone, pulling the ice cream cone away at the last moment :-D
While we enjoyed our scrumptious dinner, we were entertained by a medley of traditional and contemporary melodies played with the angklung - a traditional musical instrument made with bamboo.
Today, Doubletree hosted 30 Rohingya children from the Rohingya Tampoi Learning Centre supported by Soroptimist International Johor Bahru.
The Ramadhan buffet at Doubletree By Hilton Hotel Johor Bahru costs RM150 nett per adult (50% discount for children).

Hello! May I ask if you have an affordable and good seafood restaurant to recommend, that is near (or within 15-20 mins ride) KSL mall?
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
Appreciate your reply :)
just to share with you.
ReplyDeleteonce I went on a Friday night for buffet dinner,
there were just 2 tables and us.
the satay were cold, the fish curry had congealed.
the place looked like a ghost town.
their European staff members, including a European guy in chef uniform were eating
there too.
it was not worth my money.
after dinner, while making payment at the cashier, I noticed that the crowd was at the lounge outside this buffet restaurant.
that means, the lounge at this hotel is the attraction, not the buffet restaurant.
