During our visit to Kaohsiung with AirAsia, beautiful Dapeng Bay National Scenic Area 大鵬灣 was one of the memorable places in the itinerary.

Dapeng Bay is a short hour drive (heading south) from Kaohshiung City and is just beside Donggang township (famous for its seafood).
Dapeng Bay is a marina and popular sea sport centre. We were so glad that the weather was fantastic - bright and sunny during our visit 😄
Got our tickets for a sightseeing cruise on Dapeng Bay at the entrance 😄 There are several different types of cruises, and some have food and drinks included in the ticket price.
Some of the sexy boats at the marina.
As our boat cruised towards the opening to the sea (spanned by Dapeng Bay Bridge), we can see this large observation deck shaped like a seaplane. It commemorates Dapeng Bay's past as a major seaplane base of the Japanese Imperial Navy.
The majestic Dapeng Bay Bridge. It's a folding vehicular bridge where part of the span can be lifted up and opens a passage, so that tall ships can sail pass it into the sea or into the bay.
Floating fish and oyster farms dotted the bay. Aquaculture is an important activity in Dapeng Bay.
Our boat docked at the little platform where the oysters from the bay are shelled. So interesting! There is also a small food kiosk and toilets here.
The freshly harvested oysters are brought to the platform in large baskets for shelling.
The oysters are shelled by hand, one by one.
I was salivating just looking at those big fat oysters in the red plastic tub. I was so glad that we had a chance to taste some 😋
How to cook these fat oysters?
Just toss these into hot water and let them simmer for a minute, and that's it.
The big fat oysters, bigger than a fat man's thumb, are simply garnished with shredded ginger and chopped spring onions. 蠔大粒 😮
The oysters can be eaten with a soya sauce and wasabi dip, but I prefer to eat mine neat, just by itself.
ummmh!!
The creamy oyster had the feel of soft cheese and had an ocean fresh briny taste and natural sweet flavour.
I am sure that I can eat more than 20 of these in one go, all by myself as they were so delicious.
There were also these huge squids which I must come back for 😄
After Dapeng Bay, we hopped to Donggang Township for their renowned seafood.
Till today, I am still craving for those Dapeng Bay oysters and hope to visit this beautiful lagoon again.
