Day 7 of "Circuit Breaker*", we had MR WU's bak kut teh family set. It's a simple, no frills set of familiar comforting dishes for 4 persons at $60, free delivery. Comes with Pek Sin Choon Chinese tea brewing flask - quite a good deal.
*Circuit Breaker is a set of Singapore government measures to enforce social distancing to stem the spread of COVID-19 infections. When Circuit Breaker is in force (7 Apr - 4 May 2020), restaurants can only serve takeaways or deliver food. There is strictly no dining in.
The food came in 3 bags. Just take over from the delivery driver who brought them to our doorstep.
Everything neatly packed in boxes. That's Pek Sin Choon's tea brewing flask at bottom left.
There's bak kut teh, sweet and sour fish fillet, braised pork belly, braised tea eggs, fried vegetables, tang yuan dessert, and tea from Pek Sin Choon (glass brewing flask included).

We ate our bak kut teh straight out of the plastic container without warming up as it was warm enough. It should taste even better, if the soup was brought to boil again.
The dark brownish soup was herbal sweet savoury, in that order. The distinctive kum kum sweet taste of dang gui and liquorice was prominent.
The meat on the rib was fall-off-the-bone tender. Its tender fibres were well infused with herbal sweet flavours.
Fans of herbal bak kut teh will like this. I am more of the savoury and peppery bak kut teh type of guy, but at this COVID-19 time, I do appreciate some herbs to strengthen my immune system.
MR WU's signature braised pork belly. Skin, fat and meat all tenderly juicy and tasted savoury sweet.
Two braised tea eggs - they tasted savoury sweet similar to the braised pork belly with only subtle tea fragrance after being packed in the same box with the braised pork ๐
Sweet and sour fried fish fillet. Most of the flavours came from the savoury sweet slightly tangy sauce. The tender chewy fried fish fillet enveloped in golden-reddish sauce still had some residual crispness.
Simple greens with baby corn, carrot etc stir fried with garlic.
Tang Yuan (glutinous rice ball) with black sesame paste filling in mildly spicy sweet ginger soup.
Eat bak kut teh must, of course, round it up with a cup of hot Chinese tea. The more so today with COVID-19 as Chinese tea is proven to strengthen our immune system.
As part of #SGUNITED, Pek Sin Choon, a century old Singapore Chinese tea merchant has teamed up with MR WU to nourish us and fight COVID-19 together.
Steeping tea is convenient and easy with Pek Sin Choon's tea brewing flask. If you like more Pek Sin Choon tea delivered to you free of charge with $50 purchase, you can ☎ 6323 3238 ✆ 8426 6280 ๐ง order@peksinchoon.com
