The feast box arrived at the appointed time 👍 The food was carefully, neatly packed. The stir fried dishes were warm like they were straight out of the wok, the chicken soup was tongue scathing hot in its clay soup pot, and the chilled dessert was still cool.
The yusheng came in a highly presentable wooden box, making it a good Chinese New Year gift.
When I lifted the lid of the yusheng box, I was wowed by what I saw. It was one of the most beautiful yusheng I have seen..., what more, it kept its good looks after surviving the car journey to my home. Not a sliver of vegetable or flower seemed to be out of place.
The first thing that came to my mind was, this was a mini Gardens by the Bay at full bloom. I can smell the subtle fragrance from the freshly julienned vegetables and the flowers.
It was obvious that the yusheng was lovingly handcrafted. The uber fresh premium vegetables were finely shredded, moist but not weeping wet. I like it that all the vegetables and flowers were fresh and there were no artificial colours.
Slices of smoked salmon were garnished with ikura (salmon roe) and gleaming edible gold leaf flakes for a touch of luxury - signifying blessings and prosperity. The yusheng came complete with crackers, sesame seed, plum sauce, olive, etc.
I love the sweet savoury spicy peppery crustacean umami flavours of the succulent jumbo prawns. Aromatic, packed with layers of flavours and not numbing spicy. The meaty prawns were pan-fried with shell on and I like it that they were deveined.
Hollow stem of fresh garlic chives stir-fried till semi-crisp, crunchy with savoury sauce and strips of savoury julienned smoked duck.
The Traditional Chicken Abalone Soup 传统中式鸡鲍汤 came in a pretty, collectible soup pot.
Oh... I love the redolent savoury umami sweet flavours of this luxurious rich soup made by boiling organic chicken, fresh abalones, old fowl, dried conch and dried scallops for over 8 hours.
The soup already so rich, got even more umami punch from the half dozen good size abalones inside.
Scallops Lotus Stir Fried Blessings Glutinous Rice 福气干贝荷叶饭.
Cooked sticky glutinous rice stir fried with Japanese shiitake mushrooms, premium dried scallops and savoury sauces, then wrapped in lotus leaves together with Hokkaido scallops and steamed.
I like the firmness of the glutinous rice and its well balanced mild savoury sweet flavours overlaid with lotus leaf aroma. The rice dish was a perfect complement to the other dishes in the 6-course Lunar Prosperity Feast.
Last but definitely not the least, Chef KT Yeo's Special Peach Gum Dessert with Chinese Red Dates & Longan 甜蜜甜蜜蜜.
This atas cheng tng is one of the best I ever tasted. The refreshing dessert is made with Chinese peach gum, Chinese red dates, dried longan, snow fungus, etc., slowly simmered until the soup which is served chilled becomes soft and jelly-like. The dessert packed many layers of sweetness yet was just mildly sweet overall.
Truth be told, I am not a huge fan of delivery food. But, I am pleased with the 6-course Lunar Prosperity Feast by Chef KT Yeo. The dishes were lovingly prepared and reached my home in good shape, still warm / piping hot, as if they came straight from the kitchen to my table.
