When buddy Jimmy heard that I am exploring the old Desker Road area by night, he jio (invited) me to join him at Super Supper. This newly opened (in May 2022) diner of sorts is really quite fascinating and the eclectic menu has delicious eccentric dishes. I like it. I also realised that despite its name, supper is not its only game - Super Supper actually opens at 12 noon and is a great place for lunch too.
Super Supper is near the intersection of Desker Road and Jalan Besar (across the road from Berseh Food Centre and 10 minutes walk from Jalan Besar MRT station).
Super Supper is located inside a conservation shophouse. I like the Asian style fonts and quirky signboard design at the entrance.
The decor has a casual American fast food / diner, welcoming feel to it but it is uniquely Singapore.
The dishes on the wall were a mix of Asian and American - burgers, sandwiches, udon noodles, rice, soups, fried yummies, etc., all good stuff for late night
The dishes are the creation of Raymond, a self taught chef and self made towkay (boss). From the few dishes I tried and what I learned from speaking with Raymond, he has an inquisitive mind, sharp eye for details on what makes a good dish, and a discerning palate to create delicious dishes.
The dishes have flavours from his colourful life. (Raymond is also the man behind the famous Reimondo Seafood Congee which has two outlets - one at Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre and another at Timbre+ One North.)
The Philly cheesesteak inspired "Cheese Steak Roll" was the first to catch my attention. I was expecting it to be overly greasy and salty, too big and too meaty but it was none of these.
Between the pillow soft bun, the molten cheese smothered the tender-soft thin scrambled (NZ ribeye) steak slices. I love the layers of softness in this sandwich. The savoury flavours were just right for me and balanced with slight sweetness from caramelised onion and the bun. The savoury sweetness from the freshly fried potato wedges complemented the sandwich well. I am feeling a craving for that cheesesteak roll as I am writing this, late at night 😬
Didi's Favourite Cheesy Rice. (Didi 弟弟 is Raymond's cute 7 year old son. Forgot to take a picture of him enjoying this dish 😅 )
The tomato rice was topped with cheese, scrambled egg and crowned with tender house smoked pork belly. Beautifully delicious blend of savoury and sweet with smokey pork belly and sauce. The intensity of flavours was just right for me. I like Super Supper because their food doesn't have the overload of grease and salt often found at fast food places.
The fried chicken wing was crisp outside and tender juicy inside. The savoury marinate was infused deeply into the tender juicy fibres. Simple and one of the best fried chicken wings in Singapore.
Chicken soup for the soul and stomach. I mean, I can feel the love and sincerity from that generous amount of wholesome vegetables and chicken in the soup. Deliciously savoury sweet and great for filling / feeding the void 😬
I enjoyed the few dishes which I sampled today and will be back for more. They are familiar dishes with Raymond's personal twists which I am curious to find out more 😬

Yum! Why are the wings called "husband wings"? Is it because Raymond's wife invented it?
