Review of Ah Liang Ipoh Hor Fun @ CapitaSpring Market Street Food Centre 亚良怡保沙河粉

Ah Liang Ipoh hor fun stall is without doubt the most popular stall at Market Street Food Centre at CapitaSpring. It always sports the longest queue in the two-level hawker centre right at the heart of the Central Business District. I was here at least two, if not three times but failed to try it because the lunch time queue was just too long 😬

Stall name: Ah Liang Ipoh Hor Fun 亚良怡保沙河粉

Address: Market Street Hawker Centre, 86 Market Street, stall #02-04, Singapore 048947

Nearest MRT: 10 minutes walk from Raffles station (Exit B)

Hours: 10:00am - 7:00pm

This made me extremely curious about what Ah Liang Ipoh Hor Fun was about. So I made an early trip to CapitaSpring just to avoid the lunch time crowd.

They have various combinations of Ipoh kway teow with shredded chicken, prawn, squid, fried fish dumplings, mushroom, faux crab stick, greens, etc with brown sauce.

The portion looks generous for $4.50 - $6.50. Prawn or shredded chicken options, all come with two fried fish dumplings.

The ingredients were all mild and clean tasting, though nothing stood out for special mention.

It turned out that the two fried fish dumplings were the highlights.

I mean they were large, meaty and clean tasting like the other ingredients. The fish dumpling filling was actually a blend of ground fish and chicken meat. The dumplings were freshly made and fried at the stall though those I got today, the fried skin weren't really crisp.

The blanched hor fun noodles were slender like kway teow kia (not those broader, thinner hor fun). Smothered with a slick gooey starchy sauce, they were tender soft and smooth.

The chicken stock and herb sauce was mildly savoury sweet with a sweet aftertaste from herbs like wolfberry and dangui. This unique sauce is one of Ah Liang's selling points which their fans crave for.

Ah Liang serves a convenient one plate meal at a reasonable price but you have to wait a while to be served as the queue is long during lunch 😬 Try it during off peak hours, if you are in the area.
