Pork Soup Noodle @ Restoran Song 1314 Coffee Shop in Blok 34 Tun Aminah Skudai 古楼猪肉粉

古楼猪肉粉 Gulou Kueh Tiaw Soup | Pangsapuri, Blok 34, Jalan Pendekar 1, Taman Ungku Tun Aminah 🕗 7:30am - 9am or till sold out (Monday off)
This 古楼猪肉粉 pork soup noodle in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah has been raging in JB foodie social media for a while. Came twice all the way from Singapore but left without getting to eat as they sold out before 9am! 😖

Finally, it was third time lucky 😁 Uncle told everyone who ordered that they have to wait a long time.

8am, the full house morning crowd has congregated for breakfast service. I like the hyperlocal vibes here.

Five or six food stalls in this coffee shop, the pork soup noodle stall was the busiest.

Uncle has a big steel pot of pork stock and makes each order individually. That accounts for the long waiting time, and because there is only one pot of stock, the stall usually closes before 9am when all the stock is used up.

First time here, I ordered kway teow soup which came piping hot for RM8. (Next time, I shall ask to add egg and more lard croutons.)

I asked for rice noodles (there're various noodle options) submerged in soup with pork balls, liver slices, pork intestine, minced pork and a sprinkling of chopped scallion. Actually, a really basic rendition without any frills, and that's the beauty of it as I soon found out.

The hot soup was savoury sweet lardy and very subtly porky with flavour from the ingredients like minced fresh pork. I love it.

Not much to say about the generic rice noodles, the necessary obligatory carbs. The strands were tender, wet with savoury aromatic slick from the flavoursome soup.

The liver slices were muaks excellent even though relatively thin and cooked through - soft tender with a subtle light crunch and tasted clean and fresh. Very nice.

Not sure if the tender pork balls were factory made or not, but they tasted good and fresh - savoury porcine sweet. It didn't have the taste and smell of preservatives. Didn't ask the boss as he was working frantically, under pressure to clear the long queue of waiting customers.

Only two small pieces of pork intestines but nice.

Emptiness is proof of love 🤔 I love it. Will definitely be back but shall make sure that I am here before 8:30am.

The person I am sharing table with had the dry version.

When I was taking photos, other customers jokingly called out to me "don't post anymore, otherwise we will have no more chance to eat!".

But, anyway, 😉 🤭
