Madam Ang KK Cafe @ Parkway Parade

Madam Ang KK (Parkway Parade outlet) | 80 Marine Parade Road #01-K1, #01-K41 Singapore 449269 ๐Ÿš… 5 minutes walk from Marine Parade station ⏰ 8am - 8pm
Met up at Madam Ang KK cafe at Parkway Parade (now conveniently at the doorstep from Marine Parade MRT station).

You know, one of my pet peeves about Singapore shopping malls is it is very difficult to find a spot for a Nanyang kopi and some light local snack, even if we accept the average ones (just anything will do). So, any new option is welcome. Hence, I was eager to check out Madam Ang KK. Turns out that Madam Ang KK is now one of my preferred options for in-mall coffee break.

Located just behind the taxi stand at street level, Madam Ang KK's Parkway Parade outlet is a small, narrow space. The little cafe serves local drinks, snacks and light meals. We tried a few items and felt Madam Ang KK offers a good casual dining option in Parkway Parade.

Start with my usual kopi C kosong first. A robust bitter brew sweetened with evaporated milk was a well balanced full flavoured, full bodied caffeine blast.

Dry mee Siam with otak otak, boiled egg and sambal.

Bee hoon (rice vermicelli) infused and enveloped by mild spice and savoury flavours. Tasty, and I can just eat a whole plate of this on its own.

The slab of Muar style otak otak - fish, coconut milk, and spice custard. Rich spice and coconut milk flavours with real chunks of fish meat pair perfectly with the dry mee Siam.

Nasi lemak with beef rendang, sambal prawn and boiled egg.

The rice boiled with coconut milk was tender, loose (neither wet nor clump together), and had a gentle coconut taste.

The beef rendang was tender with balanced mild lemak sweet, savoury and spice flavours and aroma. (Not the firm almost hard, salty type of rendang.)

Meaty crunchy sambal prawns.

I like it that the crispy crunchy fried dried anchovies were just mildly savoury and not overly salty (as they often are in other similar places).

I like the sambal as it was well balanced savoury spicy sweet. The sweetness came from lots of onions which also gave the sambal its soft pulpy texture.

Madam Ang KK nasi lemak has an option called "volcano". They put a jiggly soft boil egg on your mound of coconut flavoured rice.

Mixing that eggy lava into your nasi lemak is some egg lover's idea of food manna from heaven. Ask for it ๐Ÿ˜„

The chee cheong fun or rice rolls were from a supplier but was surprisingly good.

I like the soft tender textures of the many layers of rice roll smothered by the house blended savoury sweet sauce and shallot oil. Love this chee cheong fun so much.

Kaya butter croissant. Okay..., the croissant looked flattened ๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿ˜

But, they were generous with the house made kaya made with coconut milk, eggs, pandan leaves and gula Melaka (coconut palm sugar).

Love the indulgent savoury buttery sweet blend between the crisp airy savoury buttery croissant.

Of course, we wrapped up our afternoon tea with some ang ku kueh, as we were at Madam Ang KK (KK is ku kueh for short). The sweet rice cake wrap was supple chewy and the various fillings like mung bean, red bean, yam, etc were all smooth and weren't overly sweet. I enjoyed these and would love to have them again over coffee.

A new player in Nanyang kopi cafe with snacks and light meals. Newcomer Madam Ang KK's coffee and food compare very well with the incumbent players. Give Madam Ang KK a try and you may find yourself a new place to check-in for your regular caffeine fix and carb reload.
