I am a simple man, so easy to please. Get some sweet cake slices, a cup of milk tea in a hawker centre and I am deliriously happy ๐
After our scrumptious duck rice lunch at Chong Pang food centre, we roamed around the shops ringing the market and hawker centre.
Bakers always stop me in my tracks. There were a few here in Chong Pang. Today, we tried out Bread Fresh, and will try others next time.
These kaleidescope colours were from a time when everyday was a happy day, everyone was a happy friend and everything to eat or drink was a treat.
We couldn't afford much back then but now we can have as much of these as we want. Yet, now we hesitate to touch these for "health reasons".
To me, any baker that still makes these today, is a good baker ๐ Thanks for taking us back to our childhood and relive how it felt.

Bakers in Singapore (and also Malaysia) often have egg tarts on their menu.
Bakers in Singapore (and Malaysia) also make local cakes like kaya cake, tapioca cakes, ondeh ondeh, etc.
We may not all realise it but typical bakeries in Singapore bring the world from West to East, from traditional to contemporary to us in our heartlands, and into our hearts at affordable prices. They are freshly made and baked too, right there at the shop.
SGD7.50 two persons share such a wonderful time together, thanks to our neighbourhood bakers and tea stall ๐
Today, I am reminded that many of us take our neighbourhood bakers for granted and underrated their role in our culinary landscape and culture.
