Hopscotch (Gardens by the Bay) | 18 Marina Gardens Drive, #01-21 Bayfront Plaza, Singapore 018953 🚅 5 minutes walk from Bayfront station ☏ 6539 9653 ⏰ 12 noon - 2:30 pm | 5pm - 10 pm |
Hopscotch Bar is a cheerful, playful fusion cuisine and cocktail place that has been around for over 10 years and I only learned about them last night 🤭
Hopscotch Bar has three locations, Gillman, Capitol and Gardens by the Bay (where we were at).
Hopscotch Bar at Gardens by the Bay is just conveniently steps from Bayfront MRT station.
Nice greenery, splendid views and good place to walk without buying ticket to enter the Gardens 😉 The pictures of the Gardens were taken at the doorstep of Hopscotch.
Hopscotch Bar's interior is beautiful. Large bar, spacious dining hall, mood ambient lighting. Many seats have views of the Gardens outside. Yeah, literally a bar in the garden.
The design of the menu struck me right away. Made me curious to try the dishes and cocktails.
Everyone here, okay let's roll.
Satay pork jowl S$18++. Meaty soft tender well marinated chunks of grilled kurobota pork cheeks. Robust savoury sweet and spice flavours, I like this dish.
Served with crispy fried pork rind which we ate with the nutty spiced peanut sauce (which was just gently spicy hot).
Black garlic ribeye steak S$36++. 250 gram slab served with bonemarrow butter, sesame roasted brussel sprouts, black garlic mash, caramelised onions, and a brandy sauce. We requested medium rare doneness.
Oh I love the tender juicy savoury beefiness of this steak.
Haha I love brussel sprouts, especially when they are grilled 😋 Crunchy juicy toasty savoury sweet.
I love butter, especially when they are made crazy rich with bone marrow.
Everyone love this CEREAL CHICKEN BITES, S$12. Crispy chunks of fried boneless chicken coated with buttermilk sauce, tossed with fragrant butter cereal and curry leaves.
It's okay lah. Like tender meaty pop corn with gritty crust, sweet and savoury. A younger me may love this too 🤭
My order of Duck Confit with Foie Gras S$29.
A whole juicy tender Silverhill Irish duck leg slow cooked in duck fat till crisped outside. Served with a piece of foie gras in a pool of foie gras and red wine sauce.
Meaty and crisp mix with layers of savouriness but no gaminess (that I can discern). The slivers of spicy chili pepper added accents of hot sting to the dish.
Salted egg chicken waffle S$21++.
No, this is not a dessert nor snack but a full meal (at least to me).
Gently savoury sweet soft spongy Hokkaido milk waffle topped with a whole slab of battered savoury deboned chicken thigh schnitzel. The salted egg sauce wasn't as salty as we expected it would be. Good main course for waffle and fried chicken lovers.
Wild mushroom soup with truffle S$9++.
Blend of shitake, white button, and portobello mushrooms with cream and served with a dash of white truffle oil. Thick as a porridge with robust "truffle" oil smell over savoury earthly taste of spongy bits of different mushrooms.
Saffron Lobster Bisque S$12++.
Thick creamy soup robust with crustacean umami, savoury salty taste from boiling lobster heads with saffron. Served with a dash of aromatic Cognac and sweet Boston lobster meat. Must order for umami junkies.
Couldn't resist ordering the Kaya Lava Toast, S$18.
Brioche filled with kaya buttercream wrapped in browned oats, and topped with sea salt stracciatella, butterscotch gelato. Served with creme Anglaise. By dessert time, I was already food coma-ed, so didn't really ate this.
Mid Autumn cheesecake S$13.
Mango cheesecake laced with a yuzu glaze and topped with coconut, sago, mango, pomelo bits and mango ice cream.
Win liao lo.
Now back to that mystical alchemist notebook for magical concoctions.
I just show you pictures of the cocktails we had. When you come here, the beautiful menu gives you easy to read, detailed description of each cocktail.
A Decade in Time S$28.
Apple Flower & Kumquat Gin, Sakura Mancino Vermouth, Soursop, Calamansi, Blue Pea Vanilla, Hops Tincture, Chocolate & Mint Tincture.
White Sands S$24.
Vodka, Nigori Sake, Malibu, Kwai Feh, Coconut Purée, Fresh Citrus, White Chocolate Air, Lychee Spheres.
Bubble Bean S$24.
Dark Rum, Fernet, Oatmeal Stout, Grass Jelly Powder, Hot Soya Bean Foam, Ground Sugar Peanut.
Kungfu Hustle S$25.
Chrysanthemum Gunpowder Tea-Infused Scotch, Yomeishu, Mijiu, Honey Herbal Tea, Fresh Citrus, Young Ginger.
Hopscotch is a good place to hangout, chill out at the Gardens which most people and families can indulge in. The menu is priced well within the affordable range and expectation for the location.
