Dear fans of Indian food, I got a yummy lobang for you ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

GIANT-Caterers-Johor-Bahru

You may already know GIANT Caterers, one of JB's established food catering companies. GIANT Caterers run a simple little restaurant at it's central kitchen in Plentong. This may be JB's best kept Indian food secret ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

GIANT-Caterers-Johor-Bahru

GIANT Caterers is located in the industrial estate in Desa Plentong, off the Pasir Gudang highway, so it's not your typical city restaurant. It's not a fine dining establishment but we can enjoy a delicious meal at a place off the beaten path.

Besides the bare bones but comfortable outside dining area, there is also a small, simply furnished air conditioned dining room.

Head Chef Mohammad Jober and his team serves lunch daily at GIANT Caterer's restaurant. It operates much like a Chinese "economic" rice or Malay nasi campur eatery with a selection of dishes laid out in steel warming trays. Customers help themselves and are charged according to the food they take from the warmers.

Once a week, usually on weekends, GIANT Caterer's restaurant serves their food buffet style at RM28 per head. Sometimes, they even have discounts like today where the buffet costs just RM20 per person ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Call GIANT Caterers at +607 386 3737 or +607 386 3545 to check what is on offer before you go.

Here's what we had today.

Chicken 65

A spicy fried chicken dish from Chennai. India's answer to Colonel Sander's Kentucky Fried Chicken. Many people think Chicken 65 is better, including myself as I found it more flavoursome and less greasy ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Mutton Chettinad.

Cubes of mutton stewed with spices and coconut milk.

GIANT-Caterers-Johor-Bahru

Cauliflower and potato cut in strips, battered with chilli spices and flour, then deep fried to a crisp.

Fish Moli.

This is a signature Kerala fish dish with coconut milk and spices much like Malaysia/ Singapore curry fish but milder and sweeter. Made with fresh fish here at GIANT Caterers, this was my favourite dish of the day.

Curried eggs.

Eggs and curry, two of my favourite things together ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

GIANT-Caterers-Johor-Bahru

Aloo Gobi Masala.

Cauliflower and potatoes cooked in a blend of spices till soft. Flavoursome, aromatic and just gently spicy. We could still enjoy the natural sweetness of the cauliflower and potatoes.

The briyani rice was a mix of basmati rice and long grain jasmine rice cooked in a blend of flavourful and aromatic spices.

For RM1.50, we could get piping hot, aromatic, full bodied Masala Teh. Must not leave GIANT Caterers without having this tea.

๐Ÿ‘‰ This simple place serves some of the best tasting Indian food that I have tried so far ๐Ÿ˜ƒ GIANT Caterers' daily spread is good value and their special offer buffet is something not to be missed.

Disclosure: Please note that this was an invited tasting.
