Pasar Besar Seremban Tow Kee Hakka Mee 滔记客家面店

I like al dente noodles tossed in savoury sauce and Hakka style mee is something I eat once in a while.

But, it's not high on my like list as those that I have tried so far tended to be quite dry and the "stingy" sauce was heavy on porky flavours. I doesn't help that I was already quite full taste testing the different stalls at Pasar Besar Seremban.

But, Tow Kee's reputation is huge and I just had to tick the box before leaving Seremban. I am not sure when I will pass this way again.

Oh, man, I am so glad that I tried Tow Kee 滔记.

It's the best Hakka mee that I have tried so far.

The noodles were very crunchy. Quite thick and heavy, tender on the outside with a slightly stiffer core giving the bite layers of tenderness.

I love these noodles.

My usual complaint about dryness of Hakka mee does not apply at Tow Kee. The noodles were wet with a flavourful porky sauce that made the whole bowl fill with slurpy deliciousness.

You see.

This much of their signature savoury sauce goes into each bowl of Tow Kee Hakka mee.

Drippy slurpy savoury shiok.

Tow Kee still makes their own egg noodles which they keep moist by stashing them in stacked wooden trays.

Tow Kee founded 50 years ago is run now by the second generation. The current boss, Mr. Yee has been making and selling Hakka mee for 30 years.

Tow Kee's old customers swear that the taste has been the same all these years.

The green chillis pickled in vinegar were fresh and crunchy like juicy pickled green apples with a slight spicy tangy kick.

Some people have left comments on Four Square and their own blogs that the Tow Kee stall holders are not the warmest around.

Actually, the boss was really friendly and obliged our questions. We were but total strangers from out of town intruding into their very busy day.

The lady boss' body language did hinted of a slight impatience but then I was my usual Singaporean self, shooting 10 times more photos than I will post. Just in case :p

So it was really me who was at fault :D

This simple dingy noodle stall is a Must Eat in Seremban.
