For my drive back to JB / Singapore from Kuala Lumpur, I usually set off early to avoid the traffic build up in KL. Actually, I won't even have breakfast in KL but stopover in Seremban instead. During my last trip, we stumbled upon a nice breakfast place known as Coffee Tiam Foo's Cooking 傅帮煮 at 389A, Jalan Temiang.

Restaurant name: Coffee Tiam Foo's Cooking 傅帮煮

Address: 389A, Jalan Temiang, 70200 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia

Tel: +6010 761 9366

Hours: 7:00am - 3:00pm

Coffee Tiam Foo's Cooking 傅帮煮 is a corner shop - we noticed that it was buzzing with locals and decided to give it a try.

Parking is street side and at the doorstep of the shop.

No frills, no decor, barebones set up, but it is comfortable, bright and airy.

They have quite a thick menu in a well used clear folder. There's coffee, tea, toasts, eggs, noodles, chee cheong fun, kueh, and yong tau foo (known as yong liew here).

I always associate Seremban with Hakka mee, so yeah, we ordered a serving. The noodles were done a little soft but still had some springy crunch. It was topped with stewed minced pork and set in a generous pool of savoury lardy aromatic sauce. It's quite a slurpy, good rendition of Hakka mee. (My benchmark for Seremban Hakka mee is at Tow Kee.)

Rat Tail Noodles or Hakka Silver Needle in a savoury soy sauce type dressing and topped with stewed minced pork.

The noodles were tender-firm and coated in a gently savoury-salty sauce.

Two of us, ordered three carb dishes. Felt a sense of instant remorse. But, it turned out that the chee cheong fun was well worth the calories and starch. It was soft, smooth and felt creamy in the mouth. The thick house blended sauce was richly savoury sweet. Nice.

They have sixteen different types of yong tau foo (yong liew). We randomly picked some to eat with our carbs.

This crispy bean curd was nice. It was savoury and not greasy at all.

All the yong tau foo pieces we had were nice but the most memorable one was the tofu.

When I picked the tofu, I didn't have any expectations as it was just one of the obligatory yong tau foo pieces. But, I was mind blown when I bit into the tofu.

The tofu had three layers. The lower layer of tofu was soft like bean curd (tau huay) with lovely soy bean fragrance. The second later was soft-tender spongy tau kwa. The top layer was a blend of tender minced pork and fish. We loved this so much that we immediately ordered a second piece.

Coffee Tiam Foo's Cooking 傅帮煮's coffee has nice round body with rich, robust bitter sweet flavour which I enjoyed.

Foo's Cooking's coffee is made with this traditional contraption which included coffee pots and socks.

The next time I come to
Coffee Tiam Foo's Cooking 傅帮煮, I will order two chee cheong fun and three pieces of tofu just for myself. Shall also try their other dishes. They are known for their signature fish and prawn noodle dishes.

Our total bill came to RM27.
