"Charm of Jiangsu, New Fun Experiences" Cultural Tourism Promotion Conference in Singapore 2024 水韵江苏新玩点

江苏旅游推广中心 Jiangsu Tourism Promotion Centre of Singapore and Malaysia held a conference in Singapore on 30 July 2024. More than fifty key partners from the travel, airline, and media industry of Singapore and Malaysia attended the enlightening presentations updating the achievements of Jiangsu tourism and future direction.

Dy Chief of Tourism China in Singapore, Ms 王瑾主任 welcome the guests and thanked them for their role in helping Jiangsu tourism surpassed their objectives.

The global tourism industry saw strong recovery in the first half of 2024. At the beginning of this year, China implemented mutual visa exemptions and extensions of visa policies with many countries. Visa-free entry for foreign tourist groups by cruise ship, optimised tax refund policies and payment services, and a series of supportive policies promoting tourism.

The combined effects of these policy measures greatly helped China's inbound tourism recovery, and China travel has become the "new craze" in the international tourism market again.

李思葭 from Jiangsu Tourism Promotion Centre has more good news for us regarding Jiangsu's tourism achievements and prospects.

During and following the Covid-19 pandemic, efforts to promote Jiangsu tourism continued unabated. For example, Jiangsu Tourism Promotion Centre (Singapore & Malaysia) led by Paul Chin participated in NATAS International Travel Exhibition in Singapore and Singapore Food Exhibition, including the "Jiangsu Food Cooking Competition".

A study tour in May brought 15 industry and media friends from Singapore and Malaysia to six cities and its attractions in Jiangsu

All these persistence paid off.

As of July 2024, "China Travel" related content were viewed more than 700 million times online.

In the first half of this year, more than 14.7 million foreign guests entered China, of which more than 8.5 million were through visa-free entry - up by 190% year-on-year.

During this same period, around 1.8 million foreign passengers entered and exited China through Jiangsu ports with 1.25 million using Nanjing Airport - a year-on-year increase of more than 1.3 times.

Jiangsu provincial 4A-level and above tourist attractions received a total of 1.1 million inbound tourists, including those from visa-free countries. The number of inbound tourists to Jiangsu increased by 162% year-on-year.

But, Jiangsu Tourism Promotion Centre and Jiangsu Tourism Department are not resting on their laurels. At entry points such as Nanjing Airport, tourism consultation service centres are established to help guests start off their visit on the right foot with assistance in currency exchange, payment systems / services, communications (e.g. local SIM card), and other necessities.

Besides facilitating the guests' visit, Jiangsu Tourism is also upping the game in tourism products.

Visitors to Jiangsu are no longer limited to seeing mountains, water, and scenery though these are amazing and second to none.

But, their experience will be further enhanced by personal contact with culture, art, education, sports, science and technology, even various wellness and healthy lifestyle activities. With this trend, Jiangsu, as a destination combines beautiful natural scenery, rich history and culture, and profound human connections.

方冉青 and 蒋怡静 from Jiangsu demonstrated the 2000 year old art of making 漆扇 lacquered fans which go back to the Eastern Han Dynasty era (25 - 220 CE). Visitors to Jiangsu will learn about its ancient art and craft, and try their hands in mastering the intangible heritage. This could become a life changing, lifelong lifestyle. This is just one example to illustrate the new travel possibilities with the expanded holistic approach to Jiangsu Tourism.

I recently came back from Jiangsu but can't wait to go back again for more. And, I am not the only one to think this way.

Meanwhile, let's scan this QR and enjoy a virtual tour of Jiangsu's beautiful tastes, life, humanity and scenery.
