A1 A.K. Koh Enterprise from Johor, Malaysia started as a humble ground sour plum powder maker (the kind of tangy, savoury powder people sprinkle on their slices of cut guava and jambu). The founder, Mr. Koh started by grinding dried plums himself by hand and selling it to street vendors. Today, A.K. Koh Enterprise expanded to making pre-packed bak kut teh 肉骨茶 spices which led the humble company to success.
Today, A1 A.K. Koh has a large and modern facility in Senai, Johor producing a wide ranges of pre-packed herbs/ spices and other food products like coffee, canned abalone and instant noodles.
Leveraging their expertise in pre-packed herbs and spices, A.K. Koh created this A1 Emperor Herbs Chicken Instant Noodles.
Open the packet, and there's this noodle block and packet of seasoning powder.
The seasoning has the pleasant fragrance of Chinese herbs. The packaging stated that no MSG is used in the seasoning.
Preparation is a breeze. Steaming hot noodles in herbal chicken broth in 10 minutes. Brilliant.
The noodles were soft with some spring. Clean with slight wheat taste.
The medium bodied broth gave off that distinct Chinese herbs aroma which fills the kitchen when the seasoning is added to boiling water. The broth was smooth without any grease. Full marks for the broth aroma and flavour.
