CLOSED Met up with my Kulai friend Puan Chong yesterday and she suggested we try 杰品鱼丸面 Jieping Cafe's fish balls in Indahpura together.

Jeping Cafe in Indahpura is actually the second outlet, spun off from Kopitiam Jepin in Kulai's Taman Bersatu (古来第一花园).

Jeping and Jepin's 100% pure fish balls have a strong following in Kulai.

Jeping's outlet in Indahpura is simply furnished but cool and comfortable.

Jeping's claim to fame is their fish balls, freshly hand made daily with 100% yellow tail fish meat 豆腐魚.

The ivory white, irregularly shaped fish balls are springy tender to the bite. Each bite releases a delicate fish flavour in the fish ball.

Jeping uses no MSG in their fish balls, just a bit of salt, so the taste is delicate and mild. Maybe a bit too subtle for some, but most people learnt to appreciate the gentle fish flavours after trying it.

The fish balls are sold at RM1.50 each.

There are various options to go with the fish balls.

I ate my fish balls with these simple dry yellow noodles with a light, slightly savoury sweet sauce and garnished with minced pork.

The gentle flavours in the noodles make it easy to like and went well with the fish balls.

You can also eat your fish ball with kway teow soup. (RM7.50 with 5 handmade 100% pure fish balls, I think this is a good deal.)

The broth is made wholly with fish bones and skin with no pork, chicken or MSG.

There is also the curry laksa option which I especially enjoyed.

Jeping's curry laksa is flavoursome, well balanced, just mildly spicy and has a heavy creamy body. It is thicken and sweetened with evaporated milk.

Jieping serves traditional Hakka yong tau fu with minced pork and dried shrimp fillings.

Meryl likes the crispy fried shrimp dumplings filled with tender minced pork and small fresh shrimps.
