On arriving in Bangkok, we went straight to Ah Yat Abalone at Amoma Grand hotel for dinner with Khun Niramon.
Ah Yat Abalone's entrance looked inviting.
It's comfortable inside without being overly ostentatious. The service was very good, as is the norm in Thailand (from my own experience).
We picked some simple comforting dishes. Overall, they tasted just alright.
My makan kaki - it was my privilege to meet renowned haute couture designer dressmaker Khun Niramon, owner of Niramon Couture (who is also an avid foodie - picture from her recent Japan trip).
Khun Niramon's clientele includes the rich and famous from throughout Southeast Asia including Singapore as well as Thai royalty. She frequently flies to her clients' homes to meet them and personally discuss their haute couture dress design. The next morning, Khun Niramon was flying off to her client's home in Ho Chi Minh city.
In between tasty bites, I got insights into the world of haute couture - something which I am a total outsider.
London trained Khun Niramon literally has dressmaking in her blood. Her mom is a dressmaker and founder of a dressmaking academy. Little Miss Niramon was her mum's little helper since she was a small child. She had her gifted little hands on every part of the craft from designing to pattern making, cutting, sewing and taking care of clients. The latter being a critical trait of top haute couture designers and dressmakers.
Bringing out the best and showing off the best of the client is an haute couture designer's Number One priority, Khun Niramon shared.
During this Bangkok trip, we also visited the food court at The Old Siam mall.
The food court has many traditional Thai dishes. I was drooling just by watching the workers make them 😄 It was fascinating!
Niramon Couture is located in The Old Siam mall. 1st Floor, Vannee Institute Pinklao.

Khun Niramon wasn't at her shop as she was still in Ho Chi Minh city. Browsing the dresses at her shop, the handmade dresses designed by Khun Niramon looked so nice.
👌 Pro tip: When you are in Bangkok, why not get an haute couture dress (e.g. evening gown, wedding dress) fit for royalty, specially made for you by Niramon, renowned fashion designer and dressmaker for THB40,000 - THB80,000? (SGD1,700 - SGD3,455).
