After my medical appointment today, I swung by Makansutra Gluttons Bay to dabao dinner.

Most people know our healthcare professionals are the frontline warriors of this pandemic. I would add our F & B workers to the ranks too, as an army marches on its stomach (not I say one, it was the great Napoleon who said this).

It's 4pm, the sun still beats down on the stalls pandemic or no pandemic. The stall owners and workers too soldier on for customers who call in their delivery orders or come to dabao.

Needless to say the
Heightened Alert to curb Covid-19 spread has dampened business but Syifa' Satay boss Yvonne Shilla still greets dabao customers with infectious cheer and cooks with the same inspiring zeal.

Kebabchi Charcoal BBQ boss Bila Ur Rehman is looking forward hopefully to lifting of dining in restrictions. Meanwhile, he keeps the fire burning at his charcoal grill and tandoor oven for delivery and dabao customers.

Dine in, deliver, or dabao, every naan is still proudly handmade and freshly baked in the tandoor oven on order in exactly the same way.

Pride and fighting spirit is strong at Makansutra Gluttons Bay ๐Ÿ’ช

All my shopping fitted nice and warm in this Old Seng Choong bag.

Let's head home while the food is hot. If you are driving, they can provide curb side car window service. Just call in your orders and arrange ☎

If you order delivery, check out this site, it has the list of all the stalls and menu ๐Ÿ‘ˆ

Two people sharing this but it can easily feed three or four. Everything here costed me less than $30 altogether (except for the can of Vichy Catalan tonic water which came from my fridge ๐Ÿ˜œ ).

We got beef and mutton satay from Syifa' Satay. Love that sweet subtle spicy peanut sauce Shilla lovingly made.

Need more heat?
Shilla gives the kick butt Indonesian style sambal kicap pedas sauce rarely found in Singapore.

The freshly hand kneaded and baked garlic naan came wrapped in aluminium foil. It was slightly moist which is easily solved by popping it into a pre-heated toaster for a couple of minutes.

Kebabchi's set A (price $10.50) comes with a freshly grilled quarter tandoori chicken.

Freshly grilled chicken wings from Huat Huat stall. If it gets wet from condensation, just pop it into a toaster - easy ๐Ÿ‘Œ

Don't need to queue two hours, pay $5 only, this humble looking fried rice from Hong Kong Street Old Chun Kee stall is good! Tenderly nutty loose grains rich with layers of savoury sweet flavours.

The warriors at Makansutra Gluttons Bay have a lot more for us but this was all two of us can handle this evening. It just means we'll be back!

Fight on like the indomitable Arnold ✊๐Ÿ’ช

Let's get behind our F & B warriors. Our hawker food heritage is worth fighting for.
