We stayed 4 days and 3 nights at La Vela resort in Khao Lak, Thailand and loved it ๐ ๐ ๐ฝ ❤️ It was a long stay but there was never a dull moment. There's plenty to enjoy within the sprawling resort and there were also side trips in Khao Lak from La Vela's convenient location (will cover these separately in future posts).
Stepping into the huge room, we were greeted by two king size beds (with movable partition in between). It's perfect for families on holiday.
During the day, the huge room is flooded with daylight.
There is a large bath tub in the room. Psst... it's wasted on me ๐คซ I never ever soaked in a bath tub before ๐คญ or maybe once too long ago to remember ๐ฌ
A rain shower always keeps me happy and content. Nothing like washing away that sticky
You'll be using these slippers a lot because no matter how comfortable your room is, La Vela is a vast, sprawling beach resort with plenty to lure you outside to play.
That water is so inviting!
The sun goes down, the hot air balloons go up. The whole resort have a cheery, festive mood. Love the vibes and energy here.
La Vela is a large playground by the Andaman Sea, surrounded by hills and nestled in lush tropical rainforest.
The turquoise Andaman Sea right at our doorsteps. Listen to the lapping waves gently caress the sandy beach.
Buffet style. There's Japanese (sushi, sashimi, tempura, etc), Italian (pizza, spaghetti), as well as Thai sections (som tum, khanom jeen, etc). There are also egg, fruit and beverage stations. A bar serves spirits and cocktails.
For dinner on Japanese Night, I just want sashimi.
It's a buffet dinner, so this was round one ๐ The best thing here was the torched wagyu sushi at bottom left ๐
The roasts section reminded me of those Hollywood depictions of ravenous feasts for Roman emperors ๐
One of my favourites is the khanom jeen station. This southern Thai staple is rice vermicelli, soft like putu mayam, eaten with curry slathered over it. There's chicken, beef, fish and crab curry. My favourite is crab as it is rich with crustacean umami. Eaten with side dishes like vegetable salad, fried chicken, Thai style spicy fish cake, etc.
Thailand have many "must eat" dishes. One of them is som tum - young papaya salad with fish sauce, spices, nuts, dried shrimp, etc.
Good night.
Spa Qaqula have five treatment rooms for signature massages, restorative therapies, facials and body treatments using botanical and natural spa products.
Okay.... that latte art on my flat white latte was average but the Arabica brew was spot on with its round body and rich savoury mildly bitter sweet flavour ❤️
My idea of bliss is a good book with a nice cup of coffee on a soft comfortable chair in a cool place with the right vibes, to fall asleep in ๐ค Cotton Cafe & Library has it.
My whacky and fun travel kakis (buddies) with Khun Poppee our gracious and dedicated host.
La Vela Khao Lak resort's social media is worth following to be the first to catch their very popular offers.
