Welcome address by H.E Chutintorn Gongsakdi, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore

11 May 2022, Singapore. Just attended a press briefing by Tourism Authority of Thailand on "Amazing New Chapters: Rediscover Thailand - Get Ready to Go to Thailand". Oh Yes, I am so ready and looking forward to it.

Actually, I just came back a few days ago from Phuket, Khao Lak and Bangkok. And, raring to go to Thailand again 😁  This time, Thailand is more ready than ever, since the  Covid-19 pandemic to welcome us.

Since 1 May 2022, all that is required to enter Thailand is your passport, Thailand Pass, vaccination certificate and Covid-19 medical insurance. Thailand Pass officially needs an application lead time of 7 days but the two times that I applied for it, I got it within 6 hours. Easy.

Media briefing and question session by:

- Mr Tanes Petsuwan (middle), Deputy Governor of Tourism Authority of Thailand for International Marketing, Asia & South Pacific on “Amazing New Chapters: Rediscover Thailand”

- Mr Santisuk Klongchaiya (right), CEO of Thai AirAsia on “Seamless to Thailand”

Thailand is going all out to receive us with five new programmes.

1. Workation Paradise - Thailand the haven for digital nomads.

2. New Areas - New playgrounds and destinations in Thailand because it has so much more to offer.

3. New Partners - Innovative collaborations to enhance visitor experience.

4. New Infrastructure - Travel to and within Thailand have never been easier.

5. New Way - Drawing on lessons learnt from the past 2 years, travel in Thailand will be more conscious and responsible to the environment.

In conjunction with Tourism Authority of Thailand's efforts, Air Asia Thailand is fully geared up in capacity and Covid safety measures to realise TAT's objectives.

The first fruits are already visible. During Apr 2022, Singaporeans were the top visitors to Thailand, numbering over 16,000 💪 The first week of May alone, saw 6,000 Singaporeans jetting into Thailand. Looks like TAT and Air Asia Thailand's efforts are on track to achieve the pre-Covid (2019) record of 1 million Singaporeans visiting Thailand.

Thailand will be announcing another measure very soon that will further facilitate travel to The Land of Smiles. For that, I shall let you hear the good news directly from TAT. Listen out for the official announcement at anytime now.

Part of the Thai and Singapore media at the press briefing. These are the lucky members who won Air Asia Thailand air tickets and other prizes

With seamless travel to Thailand, now is the time to rediscover Thailand.
