Review of Ah Hua Fishball Noodle @ Pandan Gardens With Unique Must Try Prawn Roll

Supposed to join buddies at Ah Hua Fishball Noodle in Pandan Gardens a few times before but timing always buay gam (not suitable) for me ๐Ÿ˜ข Today, I finally managed to swing by for lunch ๐Ÿ˜ฌ It's a good Teochew fishball noodle and there's a surprise dish too! (which you must not miss).

Stall name: Ah Hua Teochew Fishball Noodles

Address: 415 Pandan Gardens, #01-117, Singapore 600415

Tel: 8815 0716

Hours: 8:00am - 3:00pm (Sun off)

Ah Hua Teochew Fishball Noodle is at the two rows of HDB shophouses in a quiet little enclave in Pandan Gardens in Singapore's west.

Ah Hua Eating House serves fishball noodle and also Teochew porridge. There was a constant flow of customers - this was the situation at around 2:30pm on a Monday. Most people were here for the fishball noodle.

Two of us, we each got the identical medium size set and a serving of fried prawn roll.

The medium serving costs $6. The mound of mee pok and bean sprouts sat in a pool of sauce and grease, topped with blanched minced pork, lard croutons and chopped scallion.

The noodles were broad but thin (I wish they were thicker and more chewy). But, the sauce was good with plenty of spicy tangy lardy kick, the way I like to eat my noodles.

The stamp of traditional, heritage, quality and authenticity.

Lots of winners in this accompanying soup (but $6 serving doesn't come with fish dumpling or herr kiao).

The savoury sweet soup tasted of fresh fish and pork.

The fishball, size like a quail egg was spongy tender, light to the bite, almost like a soup filled balloon that bursted with a soft explosion flooding our mouth with fresh fish sweetness and a bit of brininess.

Ah Hua's fishballs are handmade at the shop with yellowtail fish paste.

The pork ball was the same except that the sweetness was from a blend of pork and fish.

The prawn ball was excellent ๐Ÿ’ช I can feel the crunchiness of the prawn meat and taste its crustacean sweetness.

There was also this fish paste (fish "ruler") which was nice like everything in the soup.

The lady boss asked me if I like to get their signature prawn roll. I asked for the smallest serving (because I don't know how to say no ๐Ÿคฃ ) but was told that it comes only in $10 servings. I went along with her suggestion ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Truth be told, I felt a little sian when I saw the bite size prawn rolls as I was expecting thicker hae cho. (Uncle, you think $10 in 2023 is bigger than bullock cart wheel, issit? ๐Ÿ™„ )

But, the prawn rolls turned out to be delightful ๐Ÿ˜‹

They were so delicious - soft, moist, eggy sweet, crustacean sweet, and water chestnut sweet all rolled into one, wrapped by savoury tofu skin deep fried till crisp golden brown outside.

The prawn roll was like omelette filled with chopped prawn and chopped water chestnut wrapped with tofu skin.

Can eat, can tabao, can recommend (though I still can't see how prawn rolls are related to fishball noodle ๐Ÿ˜ฌ ).

One of the best fishball noodle places in Singapore.
