Woodlands AFE Delights Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice Singapore

I often quipped that excellent Hainanese chicken rice can be found in any corner of Singapore. I did not mean that figuratively, nor was I kidding. I am serious :-D

Well, today I stumbled upon a Hainanese chicken rice stall in Woodlands that can rank with the best on the island.

Yes. You heard it. W.O.O.D.L.A.N.D.S.

Paddy Hills Cafe is along South Buona Vista Road at the foot of Kent Ridge and is in the same shop lot that used to house the popular vintage Lim Seng Lee braised duck. I have eaten this braised duck many times during my pre-blogging days. It's good to be back at this old place, now completely re-invented.

I was invited to a tasting at the newly opened Legendary Cart Noodles 傳奇車仔面 at Jurong Point at Boon Lay MRT station. The iconic cart noodles is to Hong Kongers what bak chor mee is to Singaporeans. (Unlike cart noodles which first appeared in 1950s Hong Kong, the other popular HK dish wanton noodles has its origins in Guangzhou.)

CLOSED The first chicken rice seller in Singapore, Mr Wong Yi Guan 王义元 peddled his chicken rice balls from two baskets on a bamboo pole slung across his shoulders. Mr Wong plied his trade in Singapore's Hainanese enclave in the Middle Road, Purvis Street and Seah Street area in the 1940s.

To-Ricos Guo Shi also known as Blanco Court Food Centre kway chap is perhaps the most famous name in Singapore traditional braised pork innards. It's now located at the sprawling Old Airport Road Food Centre and there is always a long queue at the stall.

(There are other unrelated kway chap stalls bearing the "Blanco Court" name which I shall visit and share soon :-D )
