Ask any Klangite to name the best bak kut teh in town, and the name Ah Her 阿火肉骨茶 will come up frequently.

Located in Pandamaran 班达马兰, Ah Her is a very nice place to enjoy bak kut teh. The space is breezy and cool as it is huge and the ceiling is high. Numerous whirling ceiling fans blast cool air down at the customers. The furniture is simple but comfortable. The layout is neat and the place is very clean. Most of Ah Her's customers are locals and regulars.

Ah Her was one of the numerous humble street side stalls along Jalan Besar/ Jalan Pandamaran before it moved into its own, well appointed restaurant about 4 years ago.

Various cuts of bak kut teh were kept simmering in large pots spewing clouds of aromatic steam. Customers can choose the cut that they want (like at any Klang bak kut teh).

I had my favourite cut of Klang style bak kut teh - kar wan 脚腕 or ankle joint.

When the bowl of bak kut teh lands on your table, the first thing you will notice is the brown colour broth fills up to only ⅓ of the tiny bowl 😕

This is also part of the Ah Her legend. They are very tight fisted with their broth 😂 No refills are allowed. This has led to some unhappy customers but the boss insists that more broth will change the taste of the pork. So, no means no 😁

The heavy bodied broth was savoury and aromatic with not much sweetness and no herbal taste - a little different from the typical Klang BKT but the deep layers of savouriness is very likeable, hence its popularity.

The kar wan cut has all the soft, tender and springy textures I like from the skin, fat, meat and a bit of cartilage and tendon.

The kar wan has a lovely rich natural porky sweetness.

I like Ah Her's bak kut teh mainly for their pork.
