Kluang Cendol Kader ● Century Old ● Simply Perfect ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Kluang-Cendol-Kadir

Updated 4 Aug 2019. Many readers from Kluang have told me that I must try the cendol stall at Jalan Dato Kaptain Ahmad. Now, after trying it myself, I will tell anyone going to Kluang that they must not leave town without trying Kluang Cendol Kadir. It's 4-Stars in my books 😋

Kluang-Cendol-Kadir

Kluang Cendol Kadir's biggest charm to me is its sheer simplicity.

The 100+ year old brand serves only the most basic cendol. It has only the RM1.80 basic cendol (2017 price).

Nowadays, most cendol stalls or shops have a long list of add ons like corn, glutinous rice, durian, sweet potatoes and even "jelly" etc but Kluang Cendol Kader just stick faithfully to tradition.

Kluang Cendol Kader's cendol is made only of fresh coconut milk, with boiled red beans, pandan "worms", palm sugar and shaved ice.

The soft "worms" are made of rice flour infused with juice extracted by blending fragrant pandan leaves hence the pandan flavour and light greenish colour.

The icy cold dessert tastes of layers of mild sweetness from the red beans, pandan "worms", palm sugar and coconut milk.

I can spend hours here in this cosy space behind Kluang Cendol Kader.

Fourth generation owner, Encik Ghani, now runs Kluang Cendol Kadir.

Encik Ghani's great grandfather went to Indonesia from Turkey. There he learnt about cendol known as cendol dawet in Indonesia and became a dawet vendor. The family moved to Tanjung Malim in Perak. Encik Ghani's father moved to Kluang, and so, we have Kluang Cendol Kadir to this day.

Coming back to Kluang Cendol Kadir after 2 years with a group of 9 friends, all of us unanimously said this humble RM1.80 cendol stood out as one of the key highlights of our Kluang food trail. And, we ate at a lot of different interesting places during our 3 day, 2 night food trail.

Kluang Cendol Kadir. Simply Perfect

4-Stars (out of 5). Simple and simply perfect cendol. No matter what, don't ever leave town without tasting Kluang Cendol Kader. It just takes 5 minutes and RM1.80 to enjoy a memorable taste experience.
