Cheesecake @ Cheelicious Bakery and Café in Taman Pelangi, Johor Bahru • 10 Year Long Term Review ☏ +607 331 5577

✍3 Jun 2026. Needed a coffee stop, so we swung by Cheelicious in Pelangi. I haven't been here for a decade and was curious if anything has changed at the stalwart of Johor Bahru cafes.

Cheelicious was one of the first places I blogged since I started Johor Kaki blogspot in 2012. Happened also to be one of kaki kaki's favourite hangouts.

Everything looked the same 😁

The layout, the decor, the furniture, even the display chiller. Everything was the same simple, nice, neat and calm.

Most of the old cheesecake favourites are still there, plus some new flavours.

We tried a few.

The original Bakedlicious.

Savoury, sweet, tangy, tender firm creamy texture. We love it.

We like the cranberry cheesecake the most as the berries' sour sweet flavour blends well with the savoury, sweet, subtly tangy cheese.

The coffee flavour cheesecake didn't really worked for me as the taste of coffee was robust and tended to compete too well with the more subtle savoury, sweet, tangy taste of cheese.

Actually, Cheelicious has local dishes other than cheesecake. Another kaki kaki we bumped into suggested #303 Fried Bee Hoon, got wok hei she said. As we were already very full, shall keep it in mind for our next visit.

I didn't take any photos of the coffee. Cheelicious still uses illy brand coffee. We had Americanos, kosong, light, smooth, well balanced sweet, bitter. Coffee always pairs well with cheesecake.

Still a nice hangout, hideout, chill out place.

No prize for guessing what is the signature dish at Cheelicious café 😄

Cheelicious has an extensive menu of local and Western fare but it is best known and loved for its fresh house made cheesecakes. Cheelicious’ main clientele are JB’s trendy young and the young at heart - me included 😄 (thick skin sia.... 😂 ).

Cheelicious has a long list of a dozen different types of cheesecakes on their menu and the best sellers are their caramel cheesecake and Oreo cheesecake (back in 2012).

Each slice of cheesecake costs RM8.30 (2012 price)

In Cheelicious’ version of Oreo cheesecake, the creamy cheese sits on a crust base made with crushed Oreo cookies. Personally, I felt the taste could be even more interesting if the crushed Oreo bits were mixed into the cheese 😄

Still, I liked Cheelicious' version – the cheese was yummilicious. It was rich, smooth and tender. It tasted just delicately sweet and subtly salty.

This cheesecake went very well with the robust, bitter Expresso hmmm... priceless 😋
