I used to live and work near this private hawker centre at Beauty World Centre. I also come here after my weekly Bukit Timah Hill trek (last time 😜 ). The fourth level hawker centre hasn't changed much physically in the last 20 years. Some old favourites are still here and there are quite a few excellent newcomers. Prices here are comparable with public hawker centres.

CLOSED Jin Li Satay Bee Hoon @ Beauty World · Not the Usual Satay Sauce 錦利沙爹米粉

You know, I am not really a big fan of satay bee hoon. I don't really fancy splashing nutty satay sauce over blanched bee hoon and call it a dish. Jin Ji is the first satay bee hoon I've tried in Singapore that doesn't taste totally like satay sauce.  (Update: This stall has closed as owner has retired 😔 )

You know..., I lived a few years in Kuala Lumpur and Klang was one of my favourite foodie hunting grounds. So, I have an unhealthy skepticism about eateries in Singapore that tout themselves as "Klang-style". My bad 🙇‍♂️

Zheng Xing Mei Shi Desserts · Tau Suan @ Albert Centre & Beauty World 正興美食

Whenever I am around Albert Centre, I'll pop in at Zheng Xing Mei Shi stall and see if they are open for the day. If yes, I'll treat myself to a little tub of tau suan 豆爽. I've always have a sweet tooth for the hot mung bean dessert and Zheng Xing's version is a nicer one.

Ye Tang Chendol @ Beauty World 椰堂

Stalking Beauty World Centre Food Court, we stumbled upon Ye Tang Chendol tucked in an inside corner at the far end (of the same row as Hong Wen Mutton Soup stall). Chendol in Singapore today is dominated by franchises but Ye Tang Chendol is a standalone stall. I like the taste and fragrance of Ye Tang's chendol.

Whenever I go to Beauty World Centre these days, two stalls stand out with the longest queues - one is Top 1 Home Made Noodle and the other is Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken. I've tried the chicken stall a few times, and today was my first time trying the mee hoon kueh and ban mian. A viral type website touted it as "The Best Ban Mian in Singapore and JB".

After enjoying the marvellous beef brisket noodle at Beauty World Centre's Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken stall, we came back today for what else..... - their signature soya sauce chicken. I eat soya sauce chicken a lot at home since learning how to make it myself in the 1980s, but still got blown away by Beauty World Centre's rendition. Why this stall keeps blowing me away hah? 😅

Beauty World Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Noodle • Beef Brisket Noodle & Giant Shrimp Dumpling Blew Me Away

After hearing buddies Sean and Jem raved many times about the giant shrimp dumplings at Beauty World Food Centre's Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Noodle stall, I long wanted to give it a try myself. Today, I finally had the chance to taste the famous shrimp dumpling and got a guided tour of one of Sean's favourite food haunts. I also got blown away by this stall's beef brisket noodles.
