Introduced to another fine hangout for tapas and Spanish wine @ The Butcher's Dog in Upper Bukit Timah.
The first thing that caught my attention was the quirky name, The Butcher's Dog? What's that about?
Stephen shared that it's from the Scottish phrase "as happy as a butcher's dog".
Ah... So it's about the spirit.. a place of pure happiness with lots of fine food and wine to enjoy with friends 💃
The Butcher's Dog is located at the edge of Bukit Timah Nature Reserve at the intersection of Rifle Range Road and Jalan Bingka.
It's a hidden enclave, a quiet nook shielded from the hustle and bustle of the city yet it is highly accessible.
It is a super convenient location.
There's a bus stop behind a well grown hedge steps away, Beauty World MRT station is 10 minutes walk away, it is at the edge of the Rail Corridor at Upper Bukit Timah, and kerb side car parking is available (though limited).
The Butcher's Dog has a good range of fine beef, lamb, seafood, poultry, sausages, etc.
It has a well stocked cellar with wines from around the world, especially Spain. Joshua knows his wines and can help you make the best choice.
Wine stations that pour chilled wine by the glass.
Joshua always makes the right recommendations for wine 🍷
Me (kapoh kaypoh) to Stephen: Why do you have so much Spanish food and wine at The Butcher's Dog?
Stephen: Because of bad influence from Blas (from Spanish trade office in Singapore).
Me: Oh my. We have to make sure his (Blas) boss knows about this tsk tsk tsk..... .
Crispy toast, sardine, Haloumi cheese.
Crsipy toast, smoked salmon.
Sweet pepper, cheese, olive oil.
Oh...... it's coming 😄
Crispy roast pork belly straight from the oven.
Compared to Chinese style, Spanish is not so salty and Iberico pork is naturally juicier, sweeter.
Eat with mustard sauce which is like a jam and tastes more sweet savoury than spicy.
You have to understand that very important business are discussed between tapas and fine Spanish wine 🤭
Antonio whispered that I must go watch Money Heist, one of the most watched drama series in the world. Made in Spain.
Chorizo (pork sausage) platter with more roast pork and Haloumi cheese.
Salmon (and spinach) Wellington.
The Butcher's Dog is a good place to hangout after work 👨💼 or after working out at Bukit Timah Nature Reserve 🧗♂️
