Ye Tang Chendol @ Beauty World 椰堂

Stalking Beauty World Centre Food Court, we stumbled upon Ye Tang Chendol tucked in an inside corner at the far end (of the same row as Hong Wen Mutton Soup stall). Chendol in Singapore today is dominated by franchises but Ye Tang Chendol is a standalone stall. I like the taste and fragrance of Ye Tang's chendol.

Stall name: Ye Tang Chendol 椰堂

Address: 144 Upper Bukit Timah Rd, stall #04-26, Singapore 588177 (Beauty World Centre level 4 food court)

Nearest MRT: Doorstep of Beauty World station

Tel: 9099 2289

Hours: 11:00am - 8:45pm (Mon & Tues off)

It is easy to miss Ye Tang Chendol as it is a tiny stall at the far end corner. But, they seemed busy with delivery orders, so they already have a following.

This was the durian chendol.

Truth be told, my first reaction was eh..... 🤔  It was not as pretty as the franchise ones. And, the scoop of D24 durian was barely visible under the gula Melaka.

Turned it around - this angle also cannot see much 😂

Anyway, Sean liked this durian chendol.

I just indulged in the basic classic version (didn't want too much sugar). The mound of shaved ice wasn't pretty as it crumbled when drizzled with gula Melaka and coconut milk.
The ice was shaved a little coarser than the franchise ones.

But, I enjoyed the taste and fragrance of everything in the bowl especially the gula Melaka - its sweetness and fragrance seemed more exquisite than the common sugary sweet, flat tasting type. The gula Melaka and fresh coconut milk blend was not too sugary sweet and it had a nice sweet smell. Tastes and smells a bit different from the chain stall chendols - I felt Ye Tang's was nicer by just a bit.

The pandan noodles (or "worms") were stubby, soft, and had nice gentle pandan fragrance. The fat noodles had just a light green hue and doesn't seemed to have any added colour or flavour essence. The red kidney beans were sufficiently soft-tender (not overcooked) and not overly sweet.

After your meal at Beauty World Centre, give this chendol a try. There is always space for an ice dessert - after all, chendol is mostly water only mah.... . Let us know how you find it 😄
