We were exploring Taman Pelangi for food and decided to check out RMB Noodle House. We passed this corner noodle shop a few times before and there were always customers inside - often it was full house.
This morning was like any other at RMB Noodle House - local folks having their breakfast of familiar seafood & pork soup with noodles.
Looking at the menu, we zeroed in on the top line Chang Jiang Superior Soup (price RM14).
It comes with a big bowl of fully loaded soup.
There were lots of things inside - two slices of savoury shellfish (canned), fish balls, fish slices, pork slices, scallop, fish maw, fried fish roll, pork ball etc. The fish and pork slices were fresh. It's real value for RM14.
Nice savoury sweet medium body soup loaded with a jumble of (well balanced) flavours from the many ingredients.
The generic mee pok was nicely done with a bit of spring to the bite but the savoury lardy sauce wasn't memorable as the flavour was quite flat.
There's a full complement of condiments like black vinegar, sambal chili, soy sauce, pepper, and cut chili padi to give the noodles a bit of boost.
We ordered a basket of fried fish rolls as the friendly lady at the next table kept suggesting that we should try it 😂
Nice crisp savoury tofu skin with fish paste folded inside.
We had Hakka style fried pork. It was golden brown crispy outside and tenderly moist inside. The quite robust savoury marination complemented the pork's mild natural sweetness. This was one of the best rendition of this common Hakka staple that we've tasted for a while.
Must order this when you are at RMB.
👉 Food is nice. Price is right. Service by the youthful staff was polite and pleasant. RMB Noodle House 長江一品粿条汤 is a very good place for a quiet comforting meal like a local.
